If anyone has seen TLC’s DC Cupcakes, you are more than familiar with Georgetown Cupcakes, the bake shop that has become widely popular throughout the last year. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how you look at it), there is one located right in Soho near my school, so I have tasted these fabulous sweet treats and can accurately report they really are as good as they look!
Since the opening of their new Boston location last month, Georgetown Cupcakes has created a competition of sorts between the NYC and Boston locations.
The two towns are already known for their intense baseball rivalries between the Yankees & Red Sox, so Georgetown is making use. The cupcake company invited baseball legends Bernie Williams (Yankees) and Jason Varitek (Red Sox) to there respective town locations to create a custom cupcake in honor of their team.
In New York, Williams created the “NY Pinstripe Pretzel,” which has bits of butterscotch and pretzel with a delectable butterscotch frosting. In Boston, Varitek put a spin on the classic red velvet with his “Green Monstah” which is the same flavor, just with green dyed cake.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from each sold cupcake are going to the men’s charities of choice. Williams is supporting Hillside Food Outreach which provides food for the needy in NYC areas while Varitek is raising for Pitching In 4 Kids which helps improve childhoods with sports-related activities in New England.
While neither of the men will win an actual prize, the team who wins will have bragging rights all while helping out a respectable cause.
These cupcakes are available for both purchase and delivery through this Sunday. Not only are you supporting a great cause, but you are also getting a yummy treat (trust me, they are amazing). I may just have to go pick up a few cupcakes for my dad – rilvalry runs deep in our home and he is a huge Yankees fan!
Lovelies, have you ever tried Georgetown Cupcakes? Would you support this friendly but charitable competition?
