We talk on Lovelyish about terrible tattoos a lot. It’s not a fixation on the negative, it’s just that they’re funny… and plentiful. But there are just as many fantastic tattoos out there, too. Among my favorites are really well-executed adaptations of famous works of art made permanent in tattoo form, like this version of a Roy Lichtensteinpainting. Here are some amazing examples of life imitating art!
I’ve seen many a Dalí tattoo in my day — some good like the one above, and some just mushy and awful — and I can safely say it takes a deft hand to interpret an artist’s aesthetic onto skin. I guess if you’re going to get a sweet tattoo of a famous work of art, it goes without saying you should find the perfect artist to make your vision into a reality. Check out more of these cool pieces in the gallery.
If you could get a famous work of art tattooed on you, what would it be?

I miss Keith Haring’s work. He was also a great guy – such a shame he’s gone.
