Pantone colors started out as a universal catalogue of hues the whole world of design could refer to without confusion. But in recent seasons, designers and innovators alike have been latching onto the hipness of those signature paint-chips to make some very unique items… some fabulous, some questionable. You be the judge — here are 10 creative Pantone-inspired items.
Me and my caffeine obsession are unanimously in favor of this chic and clever Pantone mugs, available via Amazon. Unfortunately they’re just outside what I’m comfortable forking over for one stinkin’ mug. I can haz discounts?
Pantone holiday ornaments. These elusive little buggers have been *rumored over* since Christmastime last year, at which point my sister (the graphic designer) and I (the painter) started swooning over them. They’re still not for sale anywhere, but if you find them, tell me.
Case Scenario brings us these fabulous Pantone iPhone cases — available at Apple stores — and they release new colors all the time. The only drawback? Having to pick just one.
I’m not sure if these are Pantone or hexadecimal, but does it matter? They’re either ridiculous or awful. What do you think?
So however you choose to express yourself, Pantone’s iconic format has become a bit of a style sensation in its own right. And whether you’re paying homage to its legacy or just enjoy the colors, these items will add some color (and maybe some spectacle) to your world.
Would you rock any of these Pantone-inspired products?

Paint chips are hip and iconic? I’m going to scuttle back under my pop-culture oblivion rock because I don’t get it.

Aww. These are cool. I’m a graphic designer, so I get the pantone color/swatches.
I wouldn’t wear the leggings. Everything else I like.
And I like making lists myself. The notebook would probably be my top choice out of these items (excluding the leggings).
