Before I could wrap my mind around the numbers, the most surprising part of this story was that people have weddings for their pets. I mean, I suppose it shouldn’t be shocking, since devoted owners often throw birthday parties and other events for their animals. And this was quite the event: not only did the wedding cost almost $250,000, but the bride’s dress was designed by Henry Roth and cost $6,000. It wasn’t reported how much money the fundraiser made, but it’s at least known that the organizers spent $5,000 on sushi! It’s ironic that this benefited the Humane Society because all I see is inhumanity to these poor doggies. This is pitiful and shameful and shouldn’t be allowed…

People do the dumbest shit with their money. If you want to donate, donate. No dog feels wonderful being subjected to getting stuffed in fancy clothing and having a “wedding.” They’re dogs. They want bones and the love of their owners. They are not spoiled people who need a shit ton of money spent on them.

Honestly, I only find it appropriate to have an event as frivolous as this only if the fundraiser gained more from it. It makes me sad to think a dag, who probably won’t appreciate a 6,000 dress,is wearing one, while 6000 could have benefited some poor dog needing medical attention or shelter.
however, 50,000 was donated. I wish the numbers were backwards – 240 donated from a 50 thou wedding.

Yeah a waste. I mean if I had that much money I wouldn’t spend it on doggy weddings. Built a school in a foreign country or buy a building at a college. Something! So many people out there dying of starvation and people are having weddings for their damn dogs.
