Rocking to stardom after releasing just one catchy “Call Me Maybe” tune, Carly Rae Jepsen‘s career isn’t going down as a flash in the pan just yet. It’s still #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and has been for the last five weeks, and every time I’m in my car searching for something to listen to, it’s guaranteed that her song will play at least once. There have been so many parodies, remixes and memes that have sprung from the teenage-esque tune, but according to a recent interview with The Associated Press, the 26 year old singer has never even given her number to a potential love interest! Ironic to me since that’s basically the theme of “Call Me Maybe.”
When asked by AP whether or not she’s ever given a guy her number, she replied,
I’ve done brave things for love before or for the possibility of the idea of love, but I’ve never quite done that and I’m pretty sure now that I never can because that would be really, really awkward.
I wonder where Jepsen got the inspiration for her silly, infectious lyrics then. Nevertheless, Jepsen’s full interview revealed that her full album will “add her little spin to pop music so that it’s a little refreshing like something you haven’t heard yet.”
I’m willing to give her full album a shot, and I’m sure the radio will force me to listen to her new tunes regardless.
Do you find it surprising that Carly Rae Jepsen has never dished out her phone number for love?

well, yeah, I think it’d be a bit awkward considering the fact that if a guy were to actually call her (and she misses said call) she’d have no choice to sing ‘Call Me Maybe’ on his answering machine.
–ALSO, Some chick posted an ad on craigslist saying that she couldn’t get a guy to call her back..so she posted the guys phone number and he received over 100 ‘Call Me Maybe’ song messages on his phone in like five minutes..–

I’m really not a huge fan of the song, but I absolutely LOVE the music video! And does she even write her own music? Because, well…it would make more sense if she doesn’t.
