I’ve been an American Idol fan since the show first debuted in 2002 and Kelly Clarkson was crowned the first Idol title. And anyone who has kept up with the show’s ups and downs throughout the years knows it’s been through its fair share of judges that offer their suggestions, critiques and praises to hopefuls. The dynamic trio of Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell has fizzled since the show’s inception, but the ten year old “search for a superstar” show is now saying goodbye to Jennifer Lopez who only spent the last two seasons with Idol, the icon announcing her departure on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning.
American Idol, whose judges have also included Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres and Steven Tyler, seems to welcome new members each season — which makes the judging process a little different each time. In my opinion, the show is starting to seem redundant season after season, and I think I’m giving up on it as well this year.
JLo explained,
I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run.
I wish Jennifer Lopez the best of luck after Idol, and have no doubt that she will continue to be successful in her career elsewhere.
Are you upset with JLo’s leave from American Idol? Who would like to see her replace her as judge?
