Like probably 99% of all of you Lovelies out there, I have horrible body image. Always have. But it turns out there’s a LOT of resources out there to help ladies (and dudes!) with this growing problem. You just have to know where to look!
1. EverydayPeopleCartoons.com
We all need a good laugh every once in a while, right? And these cartoons definitely help remind us that we’re not so different from one another.
2. Fuckyeahbodyimage.tumblr.com
I won’t lie, this is my favorite on the entire list. It updates every week with body-peace-inspiring quotes, pictures, links, and GIFs. And it’s bright and colorful!
3. Something-Fishy.org
If you suffer from an actual eating disorder, this site can gives wonderful, gentle advice for coping and healing. But even if you don’t, there’s plenty of good resources here, like an awesome section on eating disorders and body issues in the news.
4. MyBodyGallery.com
This site is probably the most unconventional on the list, but it’s pretty awesome. You can literally enter in your height, weight, pant size, shirt size and even body shape, then see dozens of women who also look like you. It’s not skeezy or porn-ish at all; the site runs under the idea that seeing someone who actually looks like you will lead to women having less distorted views of their own bodies. If you can see the truth about others, you may be able to better see it in yourself!
5. AdiosBarbie.com
Ready for a snarky take on body image? This site addresses portrayals of beauty in pop culture with no mercy. They even critique the message behind The Biggest Loser! Though I should warn you: After reading articles off this sight, you may never see the Kardashians the same way again.

Do you have body image problems too, Lovelies? What are your ways of dealing with it?

Wow number 4 sounds interesting.

Links would have been nice. I know you included a site for most of them but am I supposed to google the first one or something?

Maybe if we stopped telling girls that they will have a horrible body image, it wouldn’t happen as much. Nobody told me that I would probably think I was ugly, and I didn’t.

to make the assumption that 99% of all people have horrible body images perpetuates the negativity, because it make it sound like it’s so common and thus acceptable

I think most of look at ourselves and think, “Hey, I can improve…” but I try not to compare myself to others much. I know what I need to do to become healthy, and I’ve accepted the body type I have (no hips)–we aren’t all going to have hourglass figures. I know what website we can avoid–Skinny Gossip!

I remember going to Mybodygallery.com, entering my height and weight and size and it said there wasn’t anyone like that on there…I didn’t think my proportions were that unusual…

It takes time to really stop looking at these magazines and realize that those people are very thin and celebs have hard eating disorders. I just want to eat right when I can and exercise until I have a great night’s sleep. I didn’t think that way before but it was because people in my family would tell me to watch it. ” you are getting chunky” or “You getting a little heavy.” My family caused my disorder and not the media. (although, while looking at Teen magazine as a teen it made me want to loose even more weight and I was small the whole time. Just not small enough.)

I used to play Feed the Starving Model on adiosbarbie.com when I was in middle school. I might have read some articles. It’s a good site from what I (didn’t) read on my way to play the starving model game haha.
I try not to compare my bodies to other people. I just look at it and appreciate it for what it is. I do, whether this is a good thing or not, find paparazzi (so I assume unphotoshopped?) pictures of celebrities with small boobs and think “well, she is gorgeous” and its made me feel less insecure about my boobs. I would always compare my boobs to girls around me, and felt insecure over it. I decided I was better off seeking out beautiful images of women who I know have similar bodies as me so I can be like “well, she looks good and I pretty much have the same body as her, so I must also look good”. So I guess basically like number 4, but with celebrities.

I felt like saying something cynical, but that post cheered me up.

@Awake_My_Soul420@xanga - i don’t mean this to be snarky, but is it really that hard to google? 99% of the time I agree with you, i HATE when they don’t add the links. But this actually has the titles, so it’s not too difficult

@PassionFruit06@xanga - No, but it’s just kind of common sense to do when you publish an article. Honestly, the only reason I complained is because I tried to copy & paste the url into my browser & because of the shitty tapping I can’t turn off on my touchpad, let’s just say things didn’t go very well. Which I know isn’t the author’s fault, but again, it’s easy to link the articles. & if she didn’t do it, lovelyish should have. God knows they change enough random things.
