I never leave home without my passion for fashion, and my eyes are always on the lookout for stylish attire whether they’re everyday pieces or business uniforms. Whenever I’ve been at an airport or in an airplane, I always felt bad for the men and women who were forced into wearing such boring uniforms that did nothing to flatter their physiques. I’ve contemplated being a stewardess in the past but decided against it not only because I wouldn’t want to spend my entire career in a drab suit but for a slew of other reasons as well.

But Virgin America’s fashion savvy employees are in luck! The company is teaming up with Banana Republic to revamp their uniforms that balance style and professionalism. The results of an 18-month collaboration, the new uniforms will redress everyone from the ground crew to the pilots.

“Function and fashion were the two main driving forces of the project,” said Simon Kneen, EVP of Design & Creative Director for Banana Republic. “In each part of the design process we had to think back to who would be wearing these uniforms, the long hours of wear, activity of walking, sitting, reaching in overhead bins, etc. We chose fabrics that would be wrinkle-free yet comfortable, even adding a bit of spandex to shirt, pants and skirts to provide a bit more elasticity for moving around, while also thinking to lengthen the shirts to prevent them from coming un-tucked.”

I love browsing at Banana Republic and think their Virgin America pieces are adorable enough to wear outside of the job. Take a look at the gallery and decide for yourself!
