Y’all I have a confession to make: I am obsessed with The Glee Project. I might even like it better than Glee itself?

[Kind of spoilers Glee and The Glee Project ahead]

I have been a fan of Glee since it made its sneak peek debut after the American Idol finale in 2009. I tuned in religiously throughout my Freshman year at college. Season two was not as good but still, I stayed faithful. And then, Season three. Although the Glee kids were graduating and OMG WE WON NATIONALS I just stopped caring.

On the other hand I feel into The Glee Project quite by accident: my sister watched Season 1 so I would watch it too. And it was great. Just as cheesy and dramatic as the show, but with more relatable “characters” (the contestants) and a “storyline” (who was going to win?!) that I actually cared about.

The Glee Project is a weird sort of talent competition, the winner getting their own character on Glee. Contestants are judged by how well they can sing, dance, and act, and the worst have to perform in front of Glee-creator Ryan Murphy. One unlucky performer gets set home every week. However, the real way to win is to inspire Ryan Murphy to write a character for you. You can be the most talented, but if you don’t inspire Ryan, you won’t win The Glee Project. 

So do you watch The Glee Project? Who are your favorites? Mine are Nellie, Blake and Michael. What has been your favorite song by far? Even though I kind of find him annoying, Charlie’s last chance performance of ‘Fix You’ definitely made me cry. 

Also, watching the mentors during the last chance performances is kind of my favorite part of the whole show?


If one of my three favorites does not win, I doubt I’ll tune in for Season 4 of Glee. But if they do, I probably will! I’m pretty sure this has been Ryan Murphy’s plan all along: get viewers attached to TGP cast so they will tune in to Glee again in the fall.
