The Olsen twins caught some big backlash when their fashion line The Row released a $39,000 crocodile backpack last year. (It also still managed to sell out.) And now, seemingly undaunted, they’ve created another pricey (and controversial) bag. But this one’s much more affordable, for those of you who have a spare $16,900 lying around.
This backpack is actually the same style as the twins’ alligator one, but this version is called “multi patchwork fur.” What kind of fur is unspecified, but the bag seems to be assembled from a variety of critters. Rachel Zoe has taken a shine to the accessory, writing that “The Row’s posh pack combines comfort and class.”
For those of you who missed out on the crocodile version and find this one to be a bit flashy, the backpack also comes in “black shiny calf skin,” “black alligator,” and “slate shiny alligator.” [via Gawker]
What do you think of this backpack? If you had the money, would you buy it?

hahahhahahhahhaha… no.

It’s hideous. No I wouldn’t buy it if I had the money to waste on it. If I receive massive damage to my frontal lobe and I had the money, I’d still get the bag from the Wal*Mart clearance bin that inspired this thing.
guest
It’s so ridiculously ugly. :c
guest
I don’t mind this at all, anyone stupid enough to buy something like that for that price deserves it.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - @pullmyribsapart@xanga - I agree, looks like a hobo-inspired rat-purse. I wonder if women think guys care what their purse looks like, lol.

That’s one ugly piece of shit bag. If you’re going to blow nearly 20k for a bag, it better look good. I wouldn’t drop a dime for that garbage.

My father raised me with “I don’t want pretty for nice, I want hell for strong” This purse looks neither.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - I was wondering why it was so familiar looking…

It’s disgraceful what people do to animals in the name of “fashion”. Skinning animals for the sake of having an ugly, pricey new bag is the furthest thing from right. They should be ashamed that they’re not even thinking twice about the animals they’re slaughtering to make some stupid, ugly bags.

So dumb!!! A pathetic waste of money!

I’m a fashion major and I understand the allure of it, but I also understand why people would be so against it and would think it was ugly. I wouldn’t own it myself, but concerning the use of fur in fashion, a lot of time it’s not as inhumane as people think. I am a devoted animal lover, but I don’t let myself become too extreme and I don’t think it would hurt for others to do the same. Just check yourself once in a while and be a little more openminded to the public’s interests and desires as a whole.

If I was an animal, and you were going to skin me to make a bag, it better damn well be an attractive one! I mean really, if I was looking down from animal heaven right now, I’d be pissed as shit and probably haunt Mary-Kate and Ashley for eternity!
guest
Will it sell next to their other stuff at Walmart?
guest
absolutely not. @swagseeker@xanga - ”but concerning the use of fur in fashion, a lot of time it’s not as inhumane as people think” Source?
The fur industry kills and mistreats over 50 million animals a year, according to the humane society.

I’d rather use the money to rent a hummer limo filled with sexy chippendales
what’s so fun/appealing about a fur purse
guest
…What the fuck. Is that pile of fur really supposed to be a bag? Looks like it used to be someone’s pet…
guest
@XxbutterflyknivesXx@xanga - Agreed.

carrying a bunch of dead critters sounds so fun… =.=

@AncoraImparo@xanga - Oh dear God calm down. I’m not going to put that kind of statement there that I just magically pulled out of a hat. I’ve read numerous textbooks that have gone really in-depth on BOTH sides of the subject, and I’ve also listened to lectures about it from my professors. I would not be caught dead wearing fur, but that doesn’t mean I will judge those who choose to wear it. What I was saying is that most anti-fur activists are far too closed-minded to realize that there are two sides to every argument. Did that website tell you how many of those animals were sick or already deceased? Or maybe in a mental state that was unsafe to be left in the wild? Research your facts FULLY before you take a statistic from an extremely biased organization’s website.

I feel like the Olsen twins produce these things solely to piss PETA off. Because usually their products look like shit & are made out of a good amount of dead animal carcass. I’m not really an activist, I just hate feeling like I’m wearing rotting flesh.

@swagseeker@xanga - Hey, wow, I’m calm. Just asked for a source. Thanks.

@AncoraImparo@xanga - Oh, okay! I’m sorry!
