In the season of sandals, wedges, and flip-flops, I have fully been embracing my sneakers. I feel like a younger version of myself, the same awkward sixth grader who wore sneakers daily. I mean as a ’90′s kid, sneakers were all the rage in school! Of course this was during a time where I thought I was really awesome in my Air Force One’s or my pink Phat Farm’s, but we don’t need to dwell on that stage of my life…
I can’t help but love my sneakers lately. Well for one, they are hiding the fact that my poor toenail fell off last week. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I bruised it badly in February and it turned a lovely purple color that I had been attempting to mask with dark nail polish. It was a rough battle that I ultimately lost, but rather than deal with wearing Band-Aids every day, I stick my feet in sneakers when I can.
Sneakers also make you look much more active than usual! I purposely pair my sneakers with workout clothes. It’s like tricking myself into working out – since I already have the sneakers on, why not head to the gym? Even days where my mind tricks don’t work, the rest of the world never has to question my bad shoe choices because I look like I’m just heading to a spin class.
This might just be me, but I also feel a lot faster in sneakers. I’m not talking about Converse, but actual workout shoes. My specific pair of sneakers have gel in the soles, so I often feel like I’m bouncing. I’m naturally a fast walker, but when I have those shoes on, I seem to walk even faster. I hope I’m not alone in this…
Maybe they aren’t the most stylish, but they definitely are the most comfy. I don’t believe the sneaker phase will come back in style anytime soon, but that won’t stop my love affair. I’ll leave the cute sandals and stilettos for the club and a comfy pair of sneakers can have my heart for the rest of the day.
Lovelies, do you wear your sneakers outside the gym? Would you rather go for comfort or style with daytime shoes?

I usually head places after work, and sneakers and “business casual” don’t go very well together.
I will, however, wear them if I actually am going running, or if I’m just going out to the grocery store. Though now that I think of it, if it’s warm, I’ll be much more likely to throw on easy flats…

I’d rather wear a cute pair of flats than sneakers. They go with more things, especially if I’m going out before/after work.

I have chucks on with a cotton/jersey dress right now…

I save my sneakers for exercising, gardening and amusement parks. All other types of events: flats, sandals, flip flips, heels, etc.

I’m more of a boots girl. BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS wherever I go! sadly it’s summer so I gotta put em away
But I like your idea about using them to trick yourself into working out. Maybe I should try that too haha.

honestly, i hate the look of sneakers. the closest i get to them are a pair of Converse. on a daily basis, i wear flip flops in the summer and boots in the winter.

Good for you! Whatever makes you comfortable and saves the wear and tear of your feet works. Even if I have to wear heels some place, I like to wear something comfortable and then change into the heels later.

I love my sneakers too. Wear them all the time, I mix it up with flats now and then.

Definitely do! Always a shoe head.

I live in Vans. The only time I don’t wear them is when I have to dress up and I have exactly one pair of dress shoes for those occasions.

Totally get tricking yourself into working out! Except I don’t go to the gym (it’s not close enough to walk to and I don’t live in a city I so my lack of car is crippling) I just realize “I can run in these!” and do random sprints.

yes, most of the time in fact. too comfortable to give up.
