I’m kiiind of into the whole Russian culture thing. I minored in Russian in college, have a tattoo with Russian text and my bookshelf is primarily filled with Russian authors. So I’m sure you’re shocked to hear that Anna Karenina is one of my favorite novels, and I’ve been eagerly anticipating the movie adaptation that’s coming out later this year. Its first full trailer has just been released, and you can watch it here! I may be biased, but it’s definitely worth a view, even if you’re not familiar with the story. Just sit back and enjoy gorgeous shots of pretty people and grand sets.
I have to make the obligatory comment that you should go read the novel before seeing this, but I know you’re probably like me and prefer lighter summer book fare. There isn’t a release date for the film yet, but I will definitely be in attendance at one of the first screenings! [via Slate]
Will you see this movie? Have you read Anna Karenina?

Idk how I feel about this Vronsky–not as good-looking as he was in my head.

I think I’d enjoyed it if the actors actually looked Russian and the film was in Russian… I’m tired of this Hollywood tradition of giving British accents to foreigners like that somehow makes it more real.

Oh man, this has Oscar bait written all over it. As for Anna Karenina, all I know about it is that I gave the novel to an ex-boyfriend once.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - Haha, exactly. When watching the trailer, I kept asking myself why the Russians sounded exactly like Pride and Prejudice’s British accents.
