Fans seem to love Emma Stone for her sense of humor, quick smile and great fashion sense. But her recent look at the Paris premier of The Amazing Spider-Man is drawing unusually negative responses. Stone showed up looking incredibly pale, and some people are saying she’s wearing way too much makeup. Is this a bad look for Emma or could it just be unfortunate lighting? Check out one more photo here!
What do you think, lovelies? Does Emma look pale and glamorous or pallid and gothic?

Darling, do not speak of things you know nothing about. This is not Gothic.

I’d hit that.

@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - For those of us who don’t mind the sun touching our skin and wearing colors other than black and ‘blacker than black’ this is without a doubt ‘gothic’ and at the very least ‘gothic inspired’.
guest
@UnconventionalButterfly – I personally would consider this gothic, but then again I don’t dress like that either…
I do believe she does have a lot of make up going on. LOVE the dress though!

I love it. Of course she is pale and dark pops out on her. But so what! she looks great. Old school hollywood vixen.

@Mrs_FoodLover@xanga - A black dress and some red lipstick does not make something Gothic lol This is more vintage. I’m not saying she doesn’t look beautiful, she certainly does, but having been in the culture for a little while, this is tame..even for Victorian standards lol. Seeing Emma Stone’s styles, i’m sure she didn’t intend for this to be called Gothic either. Its a close line between Vintage and Gothic, because both use pretty lace.

This was such a bold move for her, considering her roles aren’t dark like this dress. It’s fashion, she’s just having fun with it!
She’s a total fox though and yet again another look she’s able to pull off effortlessly.

I love the dress

the blonde hair makes her look prematurely aged. how is it that it seems like she doesn’t see the sun much, yet she has wrinkles around her chin even when she’s not smiling
guest
Just because she’s wearing lipstick and a black dress and isn’t tanned to a disgusting shade of orange doesn’t make this gothic. It is however a gorgeous outfit.

I think she looks lovely, and not at all gothic. Just dark and beautiful, and I love the contrast with her white skin.

@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - Gothic style doesn’t have to be black make up, black nails, combat boots, fishnets, pale skin, and trench coats/or whatever else you are thinking of. This is gothic inspired. Do your fashion research and the history of gothic clothing, heck even gothic buildings, decorations, and furniture. Her look in this photograph may not be the gothic most people would think of or the mainstream gothic look you can find at most highschools, however it is a form of gothic style; it’s not that intense or extreme.

dear god, as a fellow pale girl, it gets a little old not being allowed to wear black clothes without being labeled a goth. i like her best with red hair, but other than that, she looks fine. and way too much makeup? do they just mean too dark of lipstick? because otherwise, she doesn’t seem to be wearing that heavy of makeup…i’m confused.

Hit, different and edgy while still being completely sexy and sophisticated. A completely different look than we are used to with her! nice!

It’s a beautiful dress, but it is not Goth(ic) or even Goth(ic) inspired. Just because something is black doesn’t make it Gothic.

@roxybabe1623@xanga - When did I say goth had to be all black??? Not once so dont even start putting words in my mouth, lady. You know nothing about me. I’m very educated in the gothic culture (being victorian goth myself) and i have many gothic friends who wouldn’t even look at this as goth. SO, kindly FUCK OFF.

@FuhkAwf@xanga - For those of us who don’t mind the sun touching our skin… Catty, much?
For those of us who are slightly more aware of what would be correctly termed as “gothic” (My mind goes first to the gorgeous architecture, but better summed up in an article like this one) this is just a gorgeous, dark look. It actually has a bit of an old Hollywood feel to it that I love – the hair, the dark lips… I would hit that as well.
She may be wearing more make up than she normally does, but she rocks it and it’s wonderful to see an actress not looking orange or wearing something trendy and bright just because it’s summer.
Black =/= gothic

i think she looks beautiful

I dunno about everyone else, but I like her look in that picture.

@blackspiders@xanga - Don’t bite off more than you can chew, Shirley Temple.

It reminds me of victorian romanticism for some reason – still love it, and why the heck not? I love pale skin and lace. Such a nice combination

This looks more like 20′s glam to me

i typically hate celebrity bullshit but this lovelyish headline caught my eye cause she looks freakin awesome. who cares if its ~~GAWTH~~ or if she’s too this or that; this is a display of hair and makeup as art. she looks stunning!!

i think the blonde hair clashes, but i love the dress

She would look so much better with red hair! I still love her <3
guest
Not a fan of the blonde hair, but the rest is… very nice.
guest
she changes her style up so often, and i love it. this is just another example of her having a versatile look.
guest
I think she rocks it :-3
guest
She makes it work. A lot of it is the personality she brings with it. It would look like a mess on someone with less attitude.
guest
ew nope
guest
@FuhkAwf@xanga - Ha, you totally beat me to it.

Blonde doesn’t work on her, the bright red violet lipstick doesn’t work either. She needs to go back to a darker red or brunette color and nude or red lipsticks, they work better with her pale skin and it doesn’t clash.
Also, this is not Gothic. A black dress, pale skin and red violet lipstick isn’t automatically Gothic.

@FuhkAwf@xanga -
“Shirley Temple?” Let’s take the childish attitude down a notch.
This is not gothic at all, but it’s a great look.

How can her natural hair color not work on her? Lmfao
