These days we have a computer application for Mac called “Photobooth.” But like most digital adaptations, its charm relies on the memories we have of the real deal. Photo booths can still be found here and there at tourist attractions and some kitschy restaurants, but back in the day they were much more ubiquitous. And while iPhones and desktops “have an app for that” I think it’s way more fun to look at these vintage photos from real mid-20th-century photo boothsand let my imagination wander.
Who were these people? What kind of evening were they having? A website called These Americans is the home of tons of these sourceless vintage snaps, all categorized in one way or another, but I prefer these from various photo booths. Check out some of my favorites in the gallery.
What do you think of these cool photos? Which are your favorites?
