Song covers are nothing new, but every so often an artist will perform an unexpected rendition of a tune. Just look at Johnny Cash’s surprising (and amazing) cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt.” Where did that come from? And who can we thank for it? Now Celine Dion, a pop diva usually associated with Titanic and moms, has taken a more hip turn with a cover of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” But does she do the tune justice? Listen and then tell us what you think by clicking here!
I think Celine did a great job at both singing the song and reminding us of what a voice she has. While some people are critiquing the cover, she obviously has a lot of admiration for Adele, and I think Celine did the song justice. Hopefully Adele thinks so too. Maybe we can even hope for a future duet? [via Gawker]
What do you think of this cover?

Fucking great job… really how could people say her vocals were anything but amazing? It’s fucking Celine?!?!!? o.O She doesn’t have to be your style but her voice is still fucking power.

I think that Celine could sing circles around Adele. Just sayin’.

@Saridactyl@xanga - THIS.

I can also picture celine pounding her chest like a mad woman while singing this angry song
adele just sits there while singing it
sometimes she’s standing. celine seems more like a passionate singer
and I like celine’s voice. adele’s singing voice isn’t feminine and is too deep like miley cyrus’ voice, so they pierce my ears in a bad way and I want to turn off the song after 5 seconds. to each their own.

lol… desperately seeking Celine

@Saridactyl@xanga - I really would have to disagree with you. I think they both have really good voices, but I personally favor Adele.

as far as sad love songs go, I can’t get into adele’s someone like you or rolling in the deep songs. her voice isn’t soulful, it is scary to me. I don’t get emotional or have flashbacks of my own sad experiences when I hear her songs. so her angry singing style isn’t my style and that’s okay. when I’m sad, I like songs like toni braxton’s breathe again or unbreak my heart with delicate vocals.
I prefer soothing voices and christina does it in this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJzQCWQF6zE

The audio quality sucks, but sometimes you just can’t help that. I think Celine did a great job, she definitely did the song justice. At times it’s easy to forget that it’s Celine singing and not Adele. Sometimes artists will change or tweak a song a bit in order to make their rendition distinguishable as theirs over the original writer/singer but if Celine did that here I didn’t notice it. I like what she did, I like that she didn’t change anything from the original, her voice is awesome and spot-on. I can’t find anything to complain about. I would have no trouble buying a CD of hers JUST for this song (not that I wouldn’t find other songs on there that I like, but you know what I mean). It would be money well spent.

I love Celine and overall I think she did a great job, but I find a few parts a little flat… Anyway, regardless, Celine’s a true singer and performer and if she decides to have a recurring show at Cesar’s Palace in Vegas again, I would love to go and watch. She was one of my favorite singers growing up and still is.

I’m not surprised that she did a good job. She’s always been a great singer.
And I forgot how refreshingly humble she is, especially compared with some of the singers who’ve become divas since her heyday.

@P0RCELA1N_D0LL@xanga - Definitely have to agree with you there. The “angry vocal” thing can be empowering and inspiring, but it doesn’t feel like it reaches to the core of the emotion enough to express it. It’s more like vocally kicking that emotion’s ass so you don’t have to feel it, which isn’t as expressive or soul-baring as I prefer.

@xhalesx@revelife - I think Celine’s able to exhibit her full potential when she sings slower songs and Adele the faster ones. They are both amazing singers but Celine had years of practice over Adele in finding her strong points

I love Celine! I wish I could go see her show in Vegas… Adele I can live without… I’ll give her props for being talented but… I still don’t like her songs… Although I blame the radio stations for overplaying them and not necessarily the artist…

Celine sings it with more power than Adele….
It sounds as though it is meant for her, and should’ve been her singing it all along!
GO CELINE!!! ROCK IT GIRL!!!

Ceine Dion is a no talent hack with a nose the size of Gibraltar.

I think she did a wonderful job, I really enjoyed it, wish the sound quality was better, but either way, total win.

Quite good but Adele is better!
