When journalist Josh Gross wrote a short and snarky article for the announcement of a Nickelback concert for Boise Weekly, he never thought it would spawn the controversy that it did.
Hating on Nickelback isn’t anything new, and there are multiple memes on the subject. All Nickelback fans should be used to the teasing by now, right?
Well, apparently not. Although most recognized the article for its hilarity, a lot people were actually offended by the article.
Not me. I think it’s really funny! What do you think? Do you like Nickelback?

I love Nickelback, they’re one of my favorite bands but some of my others include ICP and Twiztid. I’m used to hearing crap about bands and groups I like. Everyone has an opinion and the only times I can’t stand it are when they say “u r stoopid 4 liking dem..” or something really stupid like that. Everyone has different taste and different opinions and when you like a bunch of groups people obsess over hating, it’s going to happen.
I don’t really think it’s funny, it’s kind of a bad joke. Honestly, they should fire the person who wrote that joke, but that’s just my opinion.

Not a fan, but that last paragraph was a little cutting.

Chuck Klosterman wrote a great article for Grantland about seeing Nickelback and Creed on back-to-back nights which was actually really interesting.
But I still hate Nickelback.

@dream_guru5@xanga - I’m not much of a Nickelback fan, one or two songs are on my iPod though, I think the article would have been better if he had used ONE example, rather than 6+ bashing the band. Personally I would buy the pickles over tickets but I have a minor pickle addiction.
@ask_ashleyyy@xanga - I actually read that article and really liked it, I haven’t heard most of Creed’s music but I do like the songs I have heard, and I think most people at least crack a smile when they hear Nickelbacks “Rockstar” or see the accompanying music video@Thatslifekid@xanga - he really ought to check his facts, the price of a big mac can range from $2.99-$4.10 and up, and I wish a movie cost $9, unless I go to the cheap seats it costs $11.25 per ticket LOL

$45?… I dont get why they are charging that much.. I realize it isn’t THAT much for a concert, but the bands I see, and like, I’ve gotten tickets for cheaper. I dont like Nickleback, and never did

I get that not everyone likes the same music, but the guy who wrote this is an ass.

never liked them. nothing sounds worse than white hillbilly rock.

@Trueinnerbeauty - It’s probably a regional thing. I bought a movie ticket last week for $6.
I thought the article was hilarious. I also love all the tweets Dave Grohl has about Nickleback. Such as “If you play Nickelback song backwards you’ll hear messages from the devil. Even worse, if you play it forwards you’ll hear Nickelback.”

Ha ha! I am a long-time fan of this band but I still the article was funny. Would have made more impact for some people had it pointed out the charitable things you could do with $45… such as buy a battery-powered lamp to last 5 years or more for a family in India so they don’t have to keep risking horrific kerosene burns just to light their tents at night, or provide drinking water to those dealing with the horrible fires in NM or Colorado right now… just a thought. That is where I would have gone with the article, personally. Still it does get people thinking about what they are doing with their money and what their dollar is worth. Just wish it had a more philanthropic twist. Just my personal take on it.

I can’t stand Nickelback… And yes, I have listened to their music…

I like the band in moderation, neither love or hate. This guy just sounds bitter, I kind of hope the band buys him every one of those things just to piss him off.

I think they are ok, Some of their newer stuff is whiny and overplayed but other than that I don’t see what everyone hates about them. I don’t think they sound like creed at all.

AhmyGAHHHDDD that was hilarious lol….. And yeah, they are a national shame for us Canadians. But since they keep coming back, I`m guessing the have fans somewhere

A Nickelback song saved my life. Anyone who doesn’t like them should really listen to their songs. Because any musician/band who puts their heart into music the way they do does not deserve to be treated the way they are treated. If you don’t like it, shut the fuck up and don’t listen to it.
You know, if you don’t have anything nice to say…

I like both Nickelback and Creed… I don’t get why people hate them so much. If you don’t like their music, don’t listen. No need to be bitter or snarky about it.

They’re pretty terrible. But that’s not necessarily a reason to bash them mercilessly.
I mean, I like some music that I can admit is technically terrible. Like Owl City. None of us are immune to guilty pleasure music choices.

I <3 Nickelback

The only song I like by Nickelback is “Figured You Out.”
I liked them initially. Even saw them in concert after they first got big…however their music is just incredibly repetitive and annoying to me. XD.

I’ve never quite understood why the masses seem to hate Nickelback so much. I feel like I’m missing something. I’m not a huge fan, but I do like a few of their songs. I wouldn’t buy a CD, though.
I think the article is funny, but it goes too far. I have to respect the author’s biting sarcasm, though. It’s good!
