Oft-casual starlet Kristen Stewart is on the cover of Vanity Fair this month looking incredibly elegant. Who would have thought that this same woman likes to wear sneakers on the red carpet? Inside the magazine, she opens up about life in the spotlight, including dealing with people who criticize her appearance. See another shot and read more here!

While all celebrities are targets of public scrutiny, Stewart seems to receive an overabundance of it. It’s rare to come across an article about her without finding reader comments about her looks, style or tendency to appear serious in photos. But she knows it…and doesn’t seem to care:

I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph,’ Stewart says. ‘I get some serious shit about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, What an actress! What a faker! That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like shit in half my photos, and I don’t give a fuck. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.’ I don’t care about the voracious, starving shit eaters who want to turn truth into shit. Not that you can say that in Vanity Fair!’

Now there’s a woman who can curse like a sailor, make a decent point and look glamorous, all at the same time. It’s great that Stewart isn’t trying to change herself to make others happy, and even better that it hasn’t affected her still-rising career.
