Isn’t it weird, you put on a bathing suit and (hopefully) think, “dang, I look awesome.” And then you put on some clothes over top for the commute to the water and think, “what happened? I look like a goober.” At least that’s what I think. I throw on some shorts and a tank top and I feel like a summer-camper. I want to feel like a sexy beach babe, you know? I feel like I’m entitled to that. So sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get some situation-specific loungewear; I’m talking about the poolside cover-up. It’s not vital but it can make you feel really pretty while you’re bopping around on your day off. So here are some cute ones I found that hopefully won’t bust your budget.

This two-in-one dress/skirt is a great choice for comfort and cuteness poolside, and white keeps you cool and makes any skin tone look richer.

A caftan is made out of a large amount of lightweight fabric. So this is pretty much the most comfortable and universally figure-flattering silhouette a girl can choose for a lounge dress or a poolside cover-up because it’s elegant and effortless.

Hot weather somehow just makes tie-dye always appropriate. And this is a particularly killer tie-dye pattern. The looseness of the cut is breezy and comfy but looks chic and put-together.

Tube dresses can look frumpy quick. Getting one with a little more structure on top and less ambiguous ruching can make you feel fantastic even if you’re just lying around.

And for a few more bucks, this dress can go from day to evening without a thought. Throw it on over your suit with some sandals and you’re set for happy hour. Girls who are a little bigger on top, this is extra cute for you.

I get excited about getting dressed in the summer because it’s refreshing to shed all the layers and show a little skin. A fantastic, lightweight pool or beach cover-up might not be a vital addition to your wardrobe, but it’s a fun touch if you find yourself bored of the sticky shorts-and-tees this summer.
