Summer hair is hot. Unfortunately, both figuratively and literally. Scorching temperatures, humidity and long hair just aren’t an equation for comfort. So what’s the easiest way for longer-haired ladies to stay cool in the summer while still looking hot? Check out more summer styles below.
1. Half up-half down
Summer wedding? Throw it up half way to get a crazy cute frame while taking some of the hair off your neck.
2. Braid/Fishtail/Side Braid/Bang Braid
Pull a Katniss Everdeen and put your long hair in a styled braid, like this fishtail. Or braid back one side for a cool Greek look. Or go all Lauren Conrad and style a braid within a larger one for braids on braids on braids. So many options, so much hair.
3. A Big Sweep
Sweep your hair all over to one side and style a pony, leaving the top nice and fluffy. This keeps the hair off your neck and it won’t be matted to your forehead.
4. Hot Buns
Buns are my specialty, though they’re never as cool as this. Twist the front of your hair back and into a braid that sits lower on your head so the attention is on the styling, not the mess behind.
5. Top Knot
The top knot is another new favorite of mine, though usually it’s a bit lower back from my forehead. This style is so classic, like a little ballerina getting ready to dance. Plus, it gets all of your hair off your skin, which is always a bonus.
Since I coach high school hockey during the summer, my hairstyles are less about comfort and more about convenience. But the outdoors is always calling, as is my desire to travel, so easy, sexy summer hair is the key to any look I’ll want.
Lovelies, what’s your favorite summer hairstyle? Is there any other way you dress it up?

I have straight Asian hair and I don’t know how to style it. But I like all the styles above, especially the bun.

NO ONE should ever do that top knot thing.

all cute, but my hair is far too short for anything other than a basic braid or bun.

I really, really love the fishtail braid, but my hair isn’t long enough yet to braid it without falling apart. D:

Looooove the scarf in that first pic, I need to find something like that to keep my hair off my face this summer. Also, I’ve tried to do fishtail braids so many times and I always fail miserably!

I basically live in top knots, especially since my hair is so short and ethnic, and I can’t do anything cool with it. :/ But I work them and I they can be elegant or laid-back. Donut buns galore!

Great ideas. I’ll try them all at some point this summer! Most of them I already have.

A very messy bun on the top of my head

I have ridiculously curly, thick hair that’s hard to deal with. I always end up with boring or messy buns if I’m desperate to get my hair completely off my neck. I’d love to learn to do buns like in #4 since they add so much style without being over the top.
Edit: If anybody knows of a tutorial for how to do #4 please share!

A messy bun is what I mostly use almost everyday during the summer, that or the half pony tail.

that fishtail braid looks badass with the leather jacket.

The first one is cute.
Braids are always in

I do mine in a messy bun in the summer. I put a flower clip in and a hair band and I’m good to go!

When I wanna have my hair out of my face I do braids, in every shape and different styles

I’m pretty sure my hair can’t do any of these things, ha.
