Earlier this month, we posted about the newest craze in literature: 50 Shades of Grey. As a book nerd, I anxiously waited until finals were over to submit my Amazon order and have the entire trilogy shipped to my apartment.
Waiting, however, has caused my eyes to wander a bit. While I was able to hold off actually reading the book, reading all the hype about it couldn’t seem to escape me.
As an avid Vampire Diaries fan, I am one of the many girls who swoon at just the thought of sexy Ian Somerhalder (who plays troubled brother, Damon Salvatore, in the show) sends shivers down my spine. So when I watched this video, my mind was already made up.
The more I dive into 50 Shades of Grey and into the dark, twisted world of the protagonist, Christian Grey, the more I am convinced there is no better actor than Ian Somerhalder for the movie adaptation. While reading, I can’t help but picture Somerhalder when my imagination is taking hold of the scene. Putting a face to the name of Christian Grey was truly that simple. Not only does Somerhalder want the part, but he definitely is hot enough to play promiscuous and sexy Grey!
Now I can’t decide if I should go read more of the book or find more Ian Somerhalder videos. Both seem like good options…
Lovelies, do you agree that Ian Somerhalder would make the perfect Christian Grey? Or is there another actor you could see as Anastasia Steele’s beloved?

In a magazine I was perusing, I had seen that the editor or whoever wrote the pop culture section was suggesting Ryan Gosling and Amanda Seyfreid (sp?). I haven’t read the books yet, but I can’t help but picture them now as the characters in the book. However, I may see Somerhalder now too.

I LOVE Ian for this part, he is amazing in every way!! I am lucky to enough to live in the town they film The Vampire Diaries in and they resume filming this month so I plan on set stalking until I can talk to him and ask if hes heard anything about it.
He’s VERY personable and open so I have no doubt he’ll talk about it unless he legally can’t.
The ONLY other person I could ever see playing the sexy Mr. Grey would be Matt Bomber. Yes, Yes…I know he doesn’t play for the correct team needed, but uh, He definitely fits the part in every other way! Have you seen that man in a grey suit? Whew!! But again, Ian is my number 1.
As far as Ana, I don’t really have anyone set in my mind. I *almost* like Nina Dobrev for the part because of the hair and legs, but her eyes are the wrong color and she doesn’t have Ana’s personality, so I am hoping they find someone new to the acting world for her part!
Eeekk, Just talking about this has me all excited and they haven’t ever casted the movie yet, lol.

to people who’s read the entire trilogy, are the second and third books are good as the first one? also I was kinda dissapointed at how the bdsm didnt REALLY start until almost the end

I am going to throw out Michael fassbender for this role. He was Gorgeous in Xmen first Class, played a sex addict in Shame, and played the romantic, complicated, enigmatic, Byronic Mr.Rochester in Jane Eyre. He’s got depth and a darkness to him. And can be playfully sexy yet elusive.
Or Ryan Gosling (I don’t think I need much explanation here)
As Anastasia, I’d like to see Amanda seyfried (she’s been a brunette)…she has an unassuming beauty that can be played down or up. Chris Chelmsworth as Elliot, Kate – Kate hudson.

I LOVE IAN SOMERHALDER. I’m currently catching up on the 3rd season of Vampire Diaries actually. I love love love him. I haven’t read 50 Shades of Grey but if Ian is in it then I definitely will!!!!

& Yes, I’ve met him twice.
I am SO looking forward to asking him about this role! I love him and he really would be a wonderful fit for it!
