The classic bob is the most under-rated haircut out there, but in my opinion, it’s also one of the best. I love it. It’s simple, classic, easy to style and easy to grow out when you are over it. The bob is always my default haircut to suggest to clients who are looking for something new, cute and easy.
The cut began working its way into fashion sometime in the 1890′s but was really only adopted by young girls, actresses and particularly fashion-forward women. It didn’t become really popular until the 1920′s, but was seen as a shocking statement of independence from young women (long hair was the norm). By the 1930′s the trend died out, but only until the 60′s. The hair style came back full force and is still prevalent in fashion today (thanks in part to Anna Wintour editor-in-chief of a little magazine called Vogue, who has the most perfect bob I have ever seen)
Below are some of the best bobs haircuts in history…and maybe a little hairspiration if you’re thinking of trying out a medium to short hairstyle.
Which of these cuts is your favorite? Would you ever get a bob?

The women from the 1920s are amazing. I like to use them as fashion inspirations!

I’m wearing one with bangs. It takes about 3-4 minutes with the blow dryer, and having a high forehead, with a few wrinkles to boot, really takes charge of my looks in an easy and pretty way. A year ago I got my long hair cut off, and I’ve never had so many compliments in my life as far as my hair is concerned. Think outside the box a little. You might be surprised what you find. I always did love Doris Day and her edgy look.
