If there is one type of clothing I wish I had less of, it would be old t-shirts. I have entirely too many! This makes sense, being that many of the activities I’ve participated in over the years have involved free tees. As a result, there are shirts from fundraising events, 5k races, sorority functions, and community service projects cluttering my dresser drawers and overflowing my laundry hamper. Because I wear these shirts primarily to the gym, though, I recently began researching ways to re-create them into cute, fashionable pieces. As it turns out, many things can be made from a ratty old gym shirt.
By getting creative with old tees, you can get rid of a few old shirts and simultaneously expand your summer wardrobe! Some of these projects are so unique, and result in shirts and accessories that may not even be found in stores. I may have to learn how to sew, but it would be worth it to be able to wear some of these great DIY t-shirt projects.
Would any of you try one of these tutorials? Which is your favorite?

I want to make some grocery totes and I have some t-shirts that I was going to donate, so I might make them into bags instead
I also like the cuff. Thank you for the ideas! :)

Try the book “Generation T.” It’s really useful for getting instructions on projects.
