Let’s face it, even though it technically isn’t, it’s basically summer. Two of my favorite things about these next few months? Canvas sneakers and this neon trend that’s popping up everywhere.
And when the two come together, I have a little neon heart attack. Check out this awesome DIY to get neon-lined shoes and maybe use up some old nail polish (or have a good reason so buy some more)!
Step 1. Remove laces and use masking tape to surround areas you want to paint
If you surround the areas, you won’t get any nail polish on areas of the shoe that you want to keep a white color.
Step 2. Paint area, let it dry, remove tape.
Make sure that the areas you’ve painted are dry before you take off the tape to make sure you don’t have any smudges!
Step 3. Tape next area, paint, dry, and repeat!
If you work in sections, the project will be far less messy!
Step 5. Work the outsides last.
The biggest area will probably be the hardest. If you do the outsides last, you’ll have less of a mess if you try to do it backwards.
Step 6. Make sure all areas are dry, and remove the tape.
Step 7. Relace your canvases (pick some cool laces if you want!)
Step 8. Rock your new neon kicks!
How fun does this look? I seriously can not wait to try this out on some little white sneaks. The only problem for me will be deciding what color to try! Maybe I’ll have to get a few pairs.
Lovelies, what’s your favorite way to wear neon? Are there any other neon DIY projects you’re dying to try?

This is cool, although I don’t wear neon anymore. After I painted my room neon green a few years ago, I got really sick of it.. thankfully it isn’t that colour anymore.
A neon DIY project I WILL attempt though is glow in the dark lanterns. Take a mason jar and some glowsticks. Carefully leak the glowstick fluid all around the inside of the mason jar, let dry and hang! The DIY tutorial is online somewhere.

@specialxplaces@xanga - Oh, nice! Does it eventually stop glowing, though? o.o

@cryholy@xanga - Of course, they last just as long as a glowstick would. It’s just a temp decoration for nightitme festivities =) You can always wash the jars out, thoroughly.

or just use regular paint? lol finger nail polish is a bit sloppy..

This is an awesome idea. If I find some cheap white sneakers I wanna do it. I wonder if neon sharpies would work as well?
