Nebraska couple Joey and Mel Schwanke have been married for the past 64 years — and matched outfits for the last 35.
Every day, Mel wears a tie to match his wife’s dress. Together, they have 146 coordinating outfits, many of them floral prints to match the flower shop they owned for most of their marriage.
They’ve been dressing like this for so long, they say, that they don’t even remember how the trend started. “We don’t dare go somewhere without having matching outfits,” Mel told the Omaha ABC station.

That’s adorable! My husband and I sometimes coordinate in terms of color, but that is about it. We don’t make an effort to match…we can’t even wear a couples costume for Halloween!

We do. Last night I wore my polka dot black wht dress with red chucks. My boyfriend wore a black and white shit w/red in it along with his red chucks to match mine. He loves to coordinate. lol

for younger couples, I would just roll my eyes at their cheesiness, but somehow I find this elderly couple very sweet. prehaps it has something to do with the fact that it’s matching tie patterns to dress patterns, instead of t-shirts with each other’s faces on them. and they own a flower shop together?? too cute

Super cute. I think matching is best for dances like prom and Sadies, but some couples can pull it off quite well as long as it’s not shouting at the entire world. Something subtle works best
