Are you a victim of beauty savings? I can’t specifically say that I am. I do look for the best deals on makeup and clothes and occasionally I indulge on something I desperately want, but I don’t ever go out and specifically buy products just to get a free gift.
So what’s the deal, literally? Often times, big name brands will have a Bonus Gift time when, if you spend a certain amount, you can get a little swag bag full of pint sized products for you to try. Awesome, right? Maybe once or twice. But the people that get these every time they are available? I just don’t understand.
Take my mother for instance. Now my mother will go and look at counters specifically to see what their deal is. If it’s something good for her, she’ll buy something in order to get the gift…which we hardly ever use. So what is the point of getting the deal other than the 18 (sort of cute) cosmetic bags they come in.
Then there are those who only shop the sales rack, or will buy new clothes just because there’s a sale going on. As long as you’re saving money, it doesn’t matter if you don’t need what you buy? Or if you only buy what’s on sale, never finding what you really want.
So what is the point? To save money on what you don’t want? Maybe I’m crazy, but to me it makes much more sense to find great pieces (for a decent price) than spend not that much less on clothes that are on sale for a reason. That being said, I do love saving money, and 2-for-1 specials always catch my eye.
Lovelies, are you sales and savings crazy? Would you rather wait and get a great piece or only shop the sales rack?

As much as I like a good sale, or gift with purchase, I try not to buy anything unless it is something I need (or really really really wanted). It’s not worth buying something just to get the free gift, especially if you might not use it. Yes, sometimes the “deals” are very tempting but may not be worth the cost in the end. I do shop sales and clearance for clothes based on the need, not the fact that it’s on special. If I can’t find something I need that I like on the sale rack, then I will look for basics in decent prices.

I don’t really go out shopping that often, but when I do need to get something I generally wait until it goes on sale because after working in retail for almost four years, I pretty much refuse to pay full-price for something unless it’s something I desperately need.
As for gift-with-purchase deals, most of the stuff you get is worthless or something I would never use so I don’t care for them.

I love sales. If I see one… say the victoria secret one coming up, I will buy tons!!!! Cuz it’s stuff I wanted anyway…. just affordable now! Nothing wrong with being realistic. =D I am a poor college student, sales and discount stores like Ross and TJ Maxx before splurging.

what do you mean clothes that are “on sale for a reason.” just because something is on sale doesn’t mean its shitty, or any less better than the regularly priced clothes.
take stores like marshall’s or tjmaxx for instance – they sell things for cheaper, and actually have a lot of name brands – does that make their clothes any “less”?

I usually go for it. Sales people love me, hah.

Lancome face wash is just about the only thing that has ever consistently tamed my acne, but it is pretty expensive– when I start to run out, I water it down a little if I’m close to free gift time. If you’re going to buy something anyway, why not get a little something extra? The little things are great for travel.

secondhand stores are my secret, but yes, I love the sales rack

I would buy stuff because of gifts with purchase. For example if there’s bonus i’ll go to the department store, or if not i’ll go to sephora to get the points. But I always just buy the stuff I needed anyways but perhaps get a bigger size i usually would need to save up for.

I never pay full price for anything. I’m almost as cheap as it comes, unless dealing with food. That’s the only thing I’m willing to splurge on, but I’ve become a lot more conservative with that as well.

I love gifts with purchase and rebate offers, but most of the time, they still aren’t worth it. An example is this email I keep getting from Neutrogena.. I don’t spend $30 on one sole brand just to get $10 back. Silly.
My mother however, gets those Clinique bags EVERY SINGLE TIME. I normally end up with most of the stuff that came with it. In fact, I have the pink bag that you used in the cover photo!
