Battleship, y’all. Upon first word of the board game reboot getting the greenlight, I enjoyed a rather hearty guffaw. Upon stumbling on the trailer, I wondered why, oh, why they were making yet anotherTransformers movie. I didn’t play Battleship much, but the trailer isn’t what I pictured if the game leapt to life. If the other announced board game adaptations (Ouija, Candyland, Monopoly, etc.) follow suit and don’t match up to familiar childhood memories, at least consider my quasi-pitches for these hot commodities:
1. Mouse Trap

Don’t even bother with a script! Leave this movie completely in the hands of the CGI masters. The diving man is already a shoe in for Best Actor.
2. Splat

Remember squishing play-dough bugs? Parker Posey is a crazy baker/chemist who creates a toxic batch of bug-shaped marzipans goodies. The evil candies spring to life and she must kill off the infestation before her bakery/lab becomes a giant sugary blob. Her love interest is an entomologist and is therefore torn between the love of his life and the study of a brilliant new insect species.
3. Connect Four

Still shaping a plotline, but this movie screams colorblind Russians with perfect ponytails.
4. Operation

Will Ferrell, Will Ferrell, a thousand times Will Ferrell!
Would you see any of these movies? Which boards games would you like to see on the silver screen?

That’s funny. My boyfriend was just talking to his friend and they had this exact conversation. Joking about possible board game movies. How weird…. lol.

four rival gang member hippos battle it out to their bloody death over ping pong balls:O whoever wins gets taxidermies to hang on their swamp shelf of the losers.
slap jack! is a card game but I’d like to see that made into a movie. a bunch of people relentlessly hunt down Jack in an action packed obstacle course and whoever bitchslaps him first wins!

@P0RCELA1N_D0LL@xanga - I commend you on Hungry Hungry Hippos. Pitch this to Eli Roth!

@P0RCELA1N_D0LL@xanga - Slapjack would be awesome, though it would be more fun if they were all jacks and the first one to slap the other wins. Kind of like the highlander of jacks.

CONNECT FOUR™ Directed and produced by Michael Bay
Explosions! In humanity’s darkest hour, mankind’s only hope is to find and connect the four ancient MacGuffins in order to induce a nuclear explosion that will prevent our Earth from exploding in dangerous explosions. But what mankind doesn’t know is that the four ancient MacGuffins are actually explosions, brought to Earth centuries ago by aliens in an attempt to induce a dangerous nuclear explosion that would wipe out the Earth with dangerous explosions.
MOUSE TRAP™ Directed and produced by Michael Bay
No, no-no, no-no-no, no-no-no-no, no-no-no-no-no, no-NO! Mose Trappington (MTV Movie Award winner Shia LeBeouf) must battle his way down a terrifying obstacle course of invading alien Chevrolet robots from space to save ex-girlfriend Cheeze Vaginastar (Courtney Stodden) all the while being chased by explosions caused by explosions caused by aliens. The only problem is, he’s just a mouse… (also, the explosions and aliens)
SPLAT!™ Directed and produced by Michael Bay
I never played that one. From the looks of the cover, it doesn’t seem like anything Michael Bay could really do anything with.

OMG I FUCKING LOVED SPLAT. I can’t believe I forgot about that game!
Candyland, though… that could be a seriously scary movie, if you think about it. It would be like Hansel and Gretel, but with several different candy people trying to kill/eat/capture them. *shivers*

Grape Escape would make a sadistically funny movie. I used to love that game when I was a kid.
