By now almost everyone has stumbled upon a Wes Anderson film or six. Some titles include The Darjeeling Limited, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. I personally love them. Decidedly “indie” in tone — they almost always feel like you’ve fallen into the pages of a 20th century coming-of-age novel — they’re not exactly indie in billings. The casts are usually star-studded with a rolodex including but not limited to Gwyneth Paltrow, Owen and Luke Wilson, Adrian Brody, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray (of course), Ben Stiller… they list is too long to name here. So, imagine my excitement upon not only finding out that another is coming out this week, but also that Bill Murray is front and center. It’s called Moonrise Kingdom and you can (and should) watch the trailer below.
I’m excited to see some new faces not so familiar to the Wes Anderson cast, like Bruce Willis and Edward Norton, as well as his usual suspects like Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. The story, an original work by Anderson, takes place in the 1960s wherein a couple runs away together, turning their home town upside down. It will be undoubtedly charming, likely awkward and probably a little tragic. They always are, and Wes Anderson knows what he’s good at. I’m very much looking forward to seeing this film. The film released to a few cities last week and is out in select theaters today.
Will you be seeing Moonrise Kingdom?

Looks fairly good! And it definitely looks much more attractive than other Wes Anderson films I’ve heard of.
