Breaking News: Sometimes, it can be difficult to read even the most serious newspaper headlines with a straight face. Of course, many of you may already know this. While most articles discuss current events that aren’t exactly funny, it’s hard to ignore the hilarious nature of some of their titles. Don’t get me wrong, the majority of headlines in print today are certainly newsworthy. However, some of their titles make me giggle in amusement rather than gasp in disbelief.
I have to admit, coming up with a creative, attention-grabbing article title can be downright impossible for a writer. Sometimes, it’s the hardest part of the entire piece! While a headline should be effective in summing up a story, it should not be obvious to the point of being unnecessary, and it should definitely be proofread. I’ve found some amusing pictures of newspaper headlines that probably should have been reconsidered. Take a look!
Which one do you think is the most ridiculous? I think they’re all pretty funny!

Do people not read things before they publish them?

This reminds me of the good old days of my high school journalism class where we would make funny and ridiculous headlines on our copies to edit before making the actual headlines and sending it to print

@Erika_Steele@xanga - you’d be surprised. I’ve seen plenty of headlines like this before.

I remember when I was in highschool the article on the front page of the newpaper was “EMOS LEARN FROM STORM.”. It was when the whole ~emo~ thing was getting big, so it was especially hilarious. EMOS actually stood for emergency management operation system or something, but it was hilarious.
