Apparently water is very good for you, and I can’t open up a health magazine without seeing yet another article on how darn wonderful and special and amazing H2O is. The only problem is, drinking water is so boring for me. It’s tasteless, bland and sometimes makes me feel bloated. I used to go on kicks where I would drink lots of water for a week, and then give it up for more palatable drinks. Until my friend Marley came to the rescue with the simplest of solutions: “Why not just flavor your water?” Thanks to her question, I began to experiment with spicing up a once-boring drink, and it worked wonders. Now I guzzle an absurd amount of water every day, and it feels great. Here are some easy ways to make your own H2O more palatable!
1. Sassy water. Apparently this stuff is supposed to flatten your belly, but I just like the taste of it. Throw 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, 1 cucumber, 1 lemon and 12 mint leaves into 8.5 cups of water. Proceed to gulp down all day.
2. Strawberry and basil water. This combo makes an interesting pairing, with the sweet taste of strawberries and the more earthy one of basil. The source recommends gradually adding the basil to taste, so it doesn’t become too overpowering.
3. Cucumber and lemon water. A new twist on traditional cucumber water. While adding lemons isn’t exactly exciting or even very creative, you can’t argue with the tart, refreshing taste of this drink.
I’m sipping on some cucumber-lemon water right now, and it’s making me feel nice and healthy. Plus the cucumbers are a great snack to munch on once the beverage is gone. Head on over to the sources for more recipes! [via A Beautiful Mess and Calorie Count]

These sound amazing. I LOVE water, but do get very bored with it. I love throwing stuff in to change it up a bit.
and I hate tea.

@crazypassions@xanga - How the hell can you hate tea? There’s so many different kinds: hot, iced, white tea, green tea, herbal teas, flavored teas….

Awesome! We love the all-natural take on summer’s most refreshing beverage!

Iced tea! I make my own iced green tea in the summer – just put some regular tea bags in a jug of water and leave it in the fridge overnight – add lemon and/or honey to taste. Cheap, healthy and so refreshing!

I like these ideas. Usually I just use crystal light to flavor my water. I have to mix it up because I have a lot of food allergies, so I’m severely limited on even the beverages I can drink.

I like the idea of sliced fruits and veggies in water…but I like iced tea. Unsweetened. I know, I might be strange.

@blackspiders@xanga - hahah believe me, I wish I liked it. There are so many options, but everything I’ve ever tried, no matter how flavored or whatnot, that ‘tea’ the actual tea taste, I can’t handle it. haha

Don’t make assumptions based on all these random occurrences; the way you see the things he does is not necessarily the way he sees them.Your only option is to be honest and open with each other! You’re just driving yourself nuts turning these incidents over and over in your mind.

That’s really sad people find water “boring.”

I’m generally happy just squeezing (or pouring) some lemon juice into my water if I don’t want plain water. Outside of that, if I’m going to put that much effort into a drink (chopping fruit, slicing a cucumber), it’s going to be something other than water.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - (not trying to sound smartalic, I promise) Some people can’t drink tea, like if they have acid reflux. I recently found out that I can’t drink tea because of it, and I can basically only drink water. So this was actually pretty helpful. Thanks, Lovelyish!

I’m going to try those… I don’t really have water recipes…

If it’s making you feel bloated, you’re probably drinking too much. You probably don’t need a full 8 glasses a day.
