Buzzfeed just posted a list of the 36 Absolute Best Things In The World, and while I agree that most, if not all, of these things are fantastic, they are definitely not my favorite things. And as my post-graduation depression begins to set in, I decided to make a list of a few of my favorite things about returning home for summer including, but certainly not limited to, these things.

1. Seeing my best friend after a long time apart

Best friends are like water to life, and I would never be able to survive without mine.

2. Licks on the nose from puppies

The absolute best thing that happens to me when I’m upset is when my dog comes up to me, turns his back so I can give him a good scratch and then licks me on the nose to say thanks. My heart breaks every time I have to leave him!

3. Seeing movies by myself

I always feel a bit rebellious whenever I go to a movie by myself, since it’s such a “date” kind of thing. But it gives me alone time, and that’s two hours where I don’t have to talk to anyone.

4. Warm river water and fireflies

I’m lucky enough to live in a place nicknamed The River City, and the summer months mean warm water, picnics on the rocks and fireflies (only on the East Coast). Nothing is better than spending a lazy day dangling your toes in the James and returning to a light show in your own front yard.

5. Outdoor shopping

When I’m not at the river or walking my dog, I can usually be found in one of the numerous outdoor shopping areas near my house, whether shopping for myself or people watching the very interesting folks who live downtown.

All I have to do every time I start to get worried about lie is remember the little things and remind myself that, all things considered, I have a pretty good life. Now I just have to remember to enjoy it while I try and enter the real world.

Lovelies, what are your favorite things about summer? Do you travel, work or go home?
