Tumblr has always been home to both fashion and fan blogs, but the latest trend on the internet seems to be a combination of the two.

These blogs combine the most recent fashion styles with inspiration from popular movies and TV shows to create a cute way to geek out. Blogs like DisneyBound and HarryPotterSwank take the signature outfits and looks of beloved characters from their respective movies, and give them a twist.

Other blogs, like Fashion of Glee, don’t try to combine classic looks with up-and-coming styles — they hunt down the exact (or nearly exact) outfits worn in their movies or shows. Similar sites try to replicate outfits worn by celebrities, both on the red carpet and in paparazzi pictures.

Even makeup blogs have started catching onto this trend. On the blog Jangsara, there are tutorials for Avengers- and Star Wars- themed eye decorations, as well as other theatrical looks. Though there doesn’t seem to be an influx of blogs solely dedicated to fan-driven makeup, quite a few “traditional” makeup blogs are letting their geeky sides show with tutorials similar to Jangsara’s.

These blogs are moving forward with a new type of expression — subtle admiration in the latest styles. Fangirling, it seems, is making its way into main stream fashion.

What movie- or show-inspired outfit would you want to rock?
