The nerd girl: an undersold and simultaneously entirely crucial part of our society, for our brains, our romantic potential (thanks John Green) and our yearly investment in book series, video games and the like. It was about time someone spoke on behalf of the nerd girls of the world, and someone did. Some points made by this meme are pretentious, some are emotive — but they’re all true for someone out there. Take a look at some of the best observations of the perks and pitfalls of being a nerd girl.
Girl, tell me about it. It’s why I learned how to sew. A lot of these are age-specific, so go ahead and browse the site for some personalized insight. Enjoy!
Do any of these hit home for you?

Love this post! I relate to these ones the most though…#45-Having to put a great book down to do things like eat or sleep and #182-The hole you have in your chest when you finish reading a book series.

@The_Unwritten_Stories@xanga - there are tons of really good ones on the site about girls who always have their nose in a good book. i could have done a whole post on just those!

I don’t play Pokemon but I can relate with others.

@kackie - Awesome!

I don’t understand the math problem answer is 42, anybody able to explain it to me?

#270, #275, #24, #263, #256, #316. Funny story about #291 – When I was getting sorted for Pottermore, I nearly had an anxiety attack because I have always considered myself a Ravenclaw and if JKR thought differently I was probably going to have an identity crisis. Lucky me, I am, indeed, a Ravenclaw. P.S. I am a 21 year old who is graduating college tomorrow
@xsimplepleasuresx@xanga - According to “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy,” by Douglas Adams, the meaning of life is 42. He further explains why this is in one of the sequel books, “Life, The Universe and Everything.”

I can relate to #278.

@xsimplepleasuresx@xanga - It’s been an ongoing joke that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42.

I wish people who play videogames and/or have an IQ above say 85 would stop feeling so damn special.

FOR SURE about the t-shirts. I’ve yet to find a decent Queen t-shirt tailored for a woman.

Meh, further proof that I look and act like more of a nerd than I really am. Ah well.

I can relate to the problem about proofreading, but I’m not a Nerd Girl. I’m just known for being decent at that stuff in English class. :] I hope it isn’t like that in college, though; I’ll probably be too busy with my own crappy writing.
@under_the_carpet@xanga - Seriously!

This is like fan girl nerd. I consider myself a nerd, but I guess “eccentric” might be a better word for me if this is the definition of nerd nowadays. I love sci-fi, video games, fringe science, aliens, hallucinogenic drugs, conspiracy theories, 60′s drug culture, psychology, sociology, politics… I guess I see nerd as meaning someone who spends way too much time researching/reading/theorizing than obsessing over cute actors and wearing tacky teeshirts. I don’t relate to any of these at all, except the one about the pokemon file- I still have my original Blue save from when I was 8 haha.

@xsimplepleasuresx@xanga - 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Read The Hitchhiker’s Guide books.
I laughed at most of those, and can definitely relate to a couple.

@VampireOfSeduction@xanga -@heathursaurus@xanga - @skinnydragon12@xanga - Thanks, I’ve never read the books, I’ll have to check them out.

If 42 is the answer, what is the question…?
Yeah, my family won’t play Scrabble or Boggle with me anymore. Sucks.
Pottermore sorted me into Slytherin, and I deleted the account, hah!

Gotta love Tumblr.

These are kind of stupid. I also have this suspicion that girls who are always saying, “I’m so random! I’m such a nerd! Nobody is like me!” really aren’t all that ‘nerdy.’

So sick of “nerd girl” culture… and nerd culture in general. It’s just special snowflakes. So you like video games and Harry Potter and you’re intelligent and you read comic books and ohhh the woes of being a Linux user when no one else is SOB SOB SOB none of my friends read sci-fi SOB
We are more than our inventory of hobbies. If you need those to feel special, reevaluate yourself.

Most of this stuff isn’t interesting or cool.
It’s like a collection of snippets from super popular shit.
I fucking hate “nerd girls”.
“Omg u guyz, I like Harry Potter and Pokemon! I’m, like, such a hard core nerd. Pay attention to me!”
Get a life. Find something better than “liking things” to brag about.

@xsimplepleasuresx@xanga - I haven’t read all the comments yet, so sorry if this is a repeat answer… The funny thing about the answer being 42 is found in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by the late, great Douglas Adams. To give much more of an answer than that would give away the entire plot of the series… LOL (Not really…) 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything… too bad no one knows the question.

@keystspf@xanga - Thanks, a few other people did explain to me it was from the book, but they didn’t provide much context. I may just have to pick up the book now.
