I was devastated when I saw the headline that Gossip Girl is only renewing for one more season, its final season! This fall, The CW will air the sixth season of Gossip Girl, and then my favorite show will be gone forever. Let me go wipe my tears now.

I know it might sound crazy for a 21-year-old girl to be this upset over a TV show, but I am. This show has been a big part of my life for the past (almost) five years. The show first premiered on September 19, 2007, when I was just a junior in high school. I’ve made sure to change my schedule around so that I could watch it when it aired, and I’m sad that I will only be doing that for one more season.

Us Weekly broke the news that Gossip Girl will have a shortened episode schedule this fall, with only 11 episodes. The plot line seems as though it will focus mainly around Serena and the real Gossip Girl. In a statement to Us Weekly, The CW network hinted about the plot line by saying:

Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can’t imagine where they will ultimately find her.

The network also added that the final season will “focus on Nate’s mission to reveal Gossip Girl’s true identity.”

It’s a sad day for Gossip Girl fans everywhere, but at least the seasons are available on DVD. And hopefully, the last season is as good as the first five were. I’ll be sure to watch every episode of the final season, and I’ll probably shed a tear (or two) when it’s all over.

Will you tune in for the final season of Gossip Girl?
