Here at Lovelyish, we’re always in the spirit of helping you out —especially when we stumble on pure gold. For example, I would never have thought to use a can opener to get into those impossible electronics packages you inevitably cut your hand on. Brilliant! Look below for some more ingenious solutions to everyday quandaries.
Easy half-moon manicure with reinforcers for hole-punched paper. Yes!
Can’t find your little container of blotting cloths? Turns out they mount a huge dispenser on the wall in public bathrooms. *wink*
Votive candleholders feel like they’re disposable once they have nasty melted wax all in them. But if you spray them with PAM ahead of time, they’ll pop right out!
A rubber band is easier to work with than tape for a perfect French tip!
Mayo erases water stains from furniture.
Don’t have long matches for lighting hard-to-access candles? You can light uncooked pasta instead. Seriously.
A cereal container makes a fantastic mini trash can for your car.
A soda tab doubles as a fixture for the back of a painting so you can hang it on the wall.
Use a lint roller to get all the crap out from inside your purse. It would look way worse if I rolled that in mine…
There you go! Some of these I had heard but forgotten about, and others are totally new to me, but I never get tired of good ideas. See a ton more at the source!
Are you going to try any of these inventive solutions?

I use my flat iron to quickly fix shirt collars, cuffs and to put a sharp crease in dresspants when I don’t have time to pull out the ironing board and iron.
oh and I used my shick quattro bikini trimmer to trim my dogs buttfluff lol

@Trueinnerbeauty - Oh my god. Thankyou. I wear a shirt with a crisp collar every day and I find they get a little droopy after a while, but I’ve not ironed anything since uh… 2005. My silk ties are also looking a little creased, would it be really awful for them if I used a hair straightener on them?

@erotyka@xanga - no problem, just make sure if you are ironing silk to put a cloth between the tie and the plates of your flatiron to protect from any damage.
stick the tie in a pillowcase haha

Awesome ideas! Another tip: to get wax out of a votive, you can also stick it in the freezer! That hardens the wax, which makes it easier to remove.

The can opener idea will be tried as soon as I am in the position again. My grandfather has one of those as seen on TV devices to do it, and I’ve been wanting one. But if I can use the can opener instead, woohoo!

I use old jeans to sharpen old razor for shaving. just slide it forward, so with the angle of the blade, over the jeans a bunch of times( 10,20,50? who cares).

@deemure@xanga - Do some further research first, there is a method to using this and it doesn’t work on every finish.

Thanks for sharing the mayo tip

Here are two more awesome ones that have worked well for me:
-Empty Kleenex boxes are a good way to stash a ton of plastic bags from the grocery store. You can cram lots and lots into one box, and they don’t all burst out. This helps keep the broom closet or wherever much more tidy.
-Are you outside enjoying the weather when gnats attack and make life miserable? Hate the smell of bug spray? My family has been using vanilla extract for generations and it works perfectly. But ONLY against gnats; it doesn’t bother mosquitoes at all.

at first i thought this was just gonna be a bunch of makekup stuff, but there are some clever ideas up there.

@Ancient_Scribe@xanga - Hey, that plastic bag tip is a really good idea! Thanks!
– In regards to the post, the cereal container thing is something I’m heavily considering.

Erm, I’m a bit sketched out by the toilet seat cover idea. I know they’re not used, but I’m still skeeved out by thinking about putting one near my face because fecal particles fly into the air when a toilet is flushed and those sheets tend to be pretty darned close to the toilet. I think I’ll pass on that one, but all the others seem pretty useful.

Saw most of these on Pinterest. They are handy ideas!

If your razors are getting dull, soak them in alcohol overnight.

I’m seriously considering the cereal container for a trash can in the car. And the can opener thing is great too, I’ll do that if I remember next time.

Great tips!
