I can remember my first beauty product. At about twelve years old, I was faced with the biggest problem of my young life: a zit. Panicking, I ran to my mom, who would obviously have the cure for such a disaster. Noting my distress, she showed me how to apply concealer (Clinique, her favorite). She even got me my own little tube of Clinique concealer that I could bring to school. Unfortunately, Clinique concealer, as well as most other expensive beauty products, is no longer within my budget.
I do find it ironic that my go-to beauty product at age twelve was Clinique, and now it’s CoverGirl. Being a typical broke college student, I love finding lower-priced beauty lines (e.l.f., I’m looking at you). I also love discovering beauty tricks that require the use of household items over high-end cosmetics.
Surprisingly, there are many admittedly weird, yet useful beauty tips that you can take advantage of without spending a dime. In the gallery below, check out some new ways to stay beautiful without going broke.
Have any of you Lovelies tried these tricks yet? Are there any unique beauty tips that you would like to share? Let us know!

(Also, cocoa powder works great as a quickie shampoo for us brunettes.)

Cool tips! I’ve only tried using conditioner in place of shaving gel and using chap stick to moisturize my cuticles. I can see how the toothbrush and hairspray can be used to groom eyebrows. After all the toothbrush has bristles and your eyebrows are just short hairs.

I’ll definitely try out the eyeliner tip, thanks

Oh good, i’m not the only one that puts lip balm on my cuticles! I always feel really self conscious doing it.

@akinnison - I didn’t know cocoa powder could work as a shampoo – I’ll have to give it a try!

omg.
all this time i just thought i was broke and lazy bum who didn’t want to spend money on real products when all this time i was actually just being resourceful?!
i’ve been using cheap powder drink mixes since i was a little kid to stain my lips. the chapstick thing, lol, i just used it when didn’t have any lotion available. and the conditioner as shaving gel, lol, i’m too lazy to buy shaving cream when conditioner is twice as slikc and softens skin as well.

If you have blackheads, put a thin layer of Elmer’s glue over the areas and let it dry. Gently pull and the blackheads come outs.
