When Gossip Girl first came out in September 2007, I loved it! Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively, was my favorite character. I originally hated Blair Waldorf, who was played by Leighton Meester. But almost five years later, a lot has changed. I’ve noticed that I like Blair’s character much more, mainly because she has evolved so much. Keep reading to see how much she has changed.
Blair has evolved in so many ways. In the first season, she was dating Nate Archibald. But by the end of that season, she had an affair with his best friend Chuck Bass and then they too had split up. She was onto another fling. Throughout all of this, Blair was the Queen Bee at her school with lots of younger girls following her every move. In season two, she continued her snobbish ways and finally ended up with Chuck. Through all of this, Blair really grew up and matured. In the first couple seasons, her outfits were over the top. She wore a lot of schoolgirl outfits and tons of different headbands. Her clothes sometimes didn’t seem to match, but she always looked like a prissy schoolgirl. Her outfits matched her attitude.
By the end of season three, Chuck and Blair were separated again because of their unusual ways. They always fought when they were together. As the seasons went on, Blair started ditching the headbands. Every outfit she wore no longer revolved around her hair accessories. Her clothes started to look more professional and cleaner. She still wore accessories, but her outfits were more put together. She looked less over-the-top and more sophisticated. And her hair seemed more effortless. Her outfits and hairstyles were cleaner and less fussy.
Season four is a big season for Blair. She becomes friends with Dan Humphrey who was labeled Lonely Boy from the beginning. All along Blair had acted too good to ever be friends with him. Also in this season, Blair and Chuck act weird around each other because of their bad breakup. And by the end of the season, Blair is engaged to Prince Louis Grimaldi whom she met in Paris.
In the fifth season, Blair finds out that she is pregnant while planning her wedding. She also realizes she still has feelings for Chuck. She decides to go away with Chuck, but they get into a bad car accident. Because of the crash, Blair loses the baby and decides to marry Louis. Her marriage is terrible so she gets a divorce. She then falls for Dan. But by the end of the season, she has to decide between Dan and Chuck because she has feelings for both of them.
By this last season, Blair’s outfits are absolutely gorgeous. There are no headbands in sight, except for the tiara on her wedding day and the fake tiara Dan gives her. She stills wears beautiful clothing, but her style is more mature. Instead of schoolgirl skirts, she wears pencil skirts and fitted floral and print dresses. She goes between wearing her hair up and down. And overall, she seems less materialistic than the preppy girl from her high school days. Check out some of Blair’s best fashion moments in the gallery!
What do you think of Blair’s evolution? Does any style stand out to you?

Blair Waldorf will always be materialistic. I just chuckled when you argued otherwise. Nice pictures.

I love Blair and her style! But I actually like her earlier outfits better.

The newest seasons her outfits sucked cause it just looks like they grabbed anything off the runway and put it on her. No effort in styling or anything… And her look used to be all vintage and inspired by Audrey Hepburn. :/

No one seems to appreciate that Gossip Girl was a book series first.
