I know that meeting the “princesses” who walk around Disney World is supposed to be a jaw-dropping, magical experience for kids. But when I went as a child, the overly-cheery women did nothing more than weird me out. Now, watching this new video of “Princess Merida” from the new film Brave is bringing back some uncomfortable memories. Check it out after the cut!
OK, I guess I was an unusual kid, and I’ll bet that lots of little girls and boys will get a kick out of Merida and her amazing hair. I wonder if the accent (And that eye color!) is real, or if Disney reached all the way over to Scotland and plucked up this actress? You can see two more videos (and one more version of Merida) at the source! [via io9]

Maybe it’s just me, but her accent doesn’t sound legit….

I think she’s cute. The accent seems a bit exaggerated, but she’s still cute.

It is a bit creepy for adults, I think, but I loved Disneyland when I went – I was 11 and yeah, maybe a bit old for it but I had a great time meeting the princesses and getting photos with all the characters!

She reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter, looks wise. But this chicks acting is awful. Lol

Not any worse than your usual Disney princess actress. Her accent is definitely fake, but I’m sure she’ll have time to get more into character. It’s kinda tough that the movie hasn’t even been released so she can’t give away any spoilers even if they were told to her to help her get into character.
I prefer her to the really sweet, high pitched voice most of the other Disney princess actresses used when I was in Disney World.
Her hair could be a tad more realistic, though. Again, though, not that any of the actresses have realistic looking hair.

:3 she’s pretty. No need to get bitter

This girl is the second face character they premiered. I have to say that I like the first one better. She knew her role a bit more and her accent was much better.
But I have to give both of them credit, it’s extremely nerve-racking to go out and set the standard for a new character. Especially when no one has seen your movie yet!

I like her but… creepy.
AWESOME accent though!

I’d scream “GET AWAY FROM MEE!”

I’m looking forward to Brave. Too bad it’s supposed to be in the Highlands and the main character has a Glaswegian accent. For all the people complaining about the fake accent of this likely underpaid lady in the video, haven’t seen too many people complaining about Scottish actress who couldn’t muster up a more appropriate accent.
She is meant to entertain little children, most likely American children who won’t know and/or care that her accent isn’t spot on. Probably should cut her some slack. She doesn’t creep me out either. I was more scared of like …giant bunnies that left baskets filled with candy. Princesses weren’t that frightening.

The accent, an attempt at Scottish, turned out more Irish. Since I live in Scotland… this really irks me.
However, good for her. Hope she isn’t stuck in that particular part of her career for too long.

She is totally in character. Good for her. Doesn’t appear creepy at all, it is no different then an actor in a play or even a movie.

She is adorable!

didn’t find it creepy, you’ll be seeing her in disney parks soon once the movie comes out (if it didn’t already, i have no idea)

She’s doing her job.

She’s gorgeous, but the accent sucks and she’s stumbling around with her words.
