I finished my semester last week, so I am officially on summer break. I finally get some time to relax, and I plan to read some good books. I used to hate reading so this may come as shock. But this summer, I really want to curl up with a good book. I really enjoy books that are written well, have pictures or designs, or both. And no, I don’t mean picture books!
Keep reading to see my picks for summer.
5. The Joy of Decorating by Phoebe Howard Oh I love decorating so this book is like a dream come true!
4. I Brake For Yard Sales by Lara Spencer This just looks like a summer read. I’m hoping it will give me tips to find the best deals at yard sales and thrift stores.
3. Marrakesh by Design by Maryam Montague The cover alone interests me to read this book. I love great photography and great design. I hope this is as good as it looks!
2. Cupcakes and Cashmere: A Guide for Defining Your Style, Reinventing Your Space, and Entertaining with Ease by Emily Schuman I follow the Cupcakes and Cashmere blog, so I can’t wait for this book to come out this summer.
1. That Extra Half An Inch by Victoria Beckham This is full of beautiful photos and illustrations, as well as Victoria’s thoughts on fashion.

Finish Game of Thrones (finally, this semester has been horrible for pleasure reading), Walking Dead, The Cosmos (Carl Sagan ftw!), Mutiny on the Bounty, Haunted, and loads more that I’ve had stacked up for a while. It’s going to be a great summer.

reading for pleasure is such a foreign concept for me hahaha

I want to read Great Expectations, Manhunt, the second and third book in the Hunger Games series, as much of Poe’s work as I can, The Waves, and the Trial. I’ll probably only get around to half of those, though. Lol.

-Tons of food-related books, history and otherwise
-The Looking Glass War series that I kept borrowing this semester and never had time to read
-Finish the last book of the Wicked series
-Read Ender’s Shadow and the other books that follow Bean
-Read the rest of the books I bought for my English class (she chose like, one or two stories out of an anthology to actually teach. UNACCEPTABLE. MUST FINISH)
-Read the rest of the books I bought for my religious Philosophy class (same deal; he chose certain passages. As an atheist, I feel the need to be able to back my shit up by knowing more about the opponent than the opponent might)
-Get some Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan up in here
-Read more John Green (I didn’t have time to get through The Fault in Our Stars, unfortunately) and whatever books he mentions (Like Susan Sontag- Regarding the Pain of Others, and Maureen Johnson books)
-Read the entire Divine Comedy
-Read the 3rd edition Lucky Peach OVER and OVER and OVER again
-MISSION (FUCKING) STREET FOOD
And all of that probably won’t even cover until the end of July.

All my favorite YA fiction authors. So anything that came out this year from Francesca Lia Block, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, Jessica George, and Joseph Delaney. Might also read Hunger Games.
I haven’t seen Game of Thrones, but I’d like to read it.

I’m glad I can be the first commenter who has finished Game of Thrones thus far. I’m anticipating the next. (If you like GoT I suggest the Pillars of the Earth series, good shit).
I probably have to read an amazing amount of the classics over the summer, so everyone enjoy the pleasure reads!

I wanna read Deadlocked the new book by Charlaine Harris for the Sookie Stackhouse series. Next tuesday Stephen Colbert’s children’s book, “I am a pole and so can you” comes out. And I’m sure there’s other books I wanna read. I’ve already read the Hunger Games series. So, whatever looks good/interesting at my local public library…that’s what I’ll most likely be reading over the summer.

ohmygawd…i have around 300 books in my room..and more in the basement. I’m so behind on my reading.
First I want to read this book on meditation.
Then the art of happiness
then probably the alchemist again
then eleven minutes, brida,
middlesex
and i’ll attempt to get through the dome…but i doubt it. King’s books are a drag but I love his plots so i make poor attempts

@MiriamBeth@xanga - I finished it too! I’m on my second round now, figured by the time I find time to re-read all the books, I can start expecting a new book.

I think I’m finally going to read Wifey.

As boring as it may sound, I’m going to go back and re-read some of my grad books on business and strategic planning.

I’m interested in reading 50 Shades of Grey.

Ha! This list really cracks me up. I thought you were going to list fiction,or memoirs, not non-fiction. I guess if this is what you want to read over the summer, than go ahead. It might be fun to read one or two of these off of this list, but at least put some fiction into it! Live a little!

What’s on my summer reading list? Anything I can get my hands on! I’m one of those people who literally chews through books in hours. It’s nuts. I re-read books all the time too, so I’m always looking for something new. I have to budget my books and I live for the free ebooks on Amazon… >.<
