The usually-cheery fashion house of Betsey Johnson is facing some dismal news. The company filed for bankruptcy today, and big (unfortunate) changes will be coming to the brand.
Betsey Johnson has 63 stores across the world…and most of them will be closing within the next few weeks. This means that an expected 350 employees will be let go. Betsey herself (who is almost 70!) will keep the position of creative director, though that can’t be an easy title to have right now. [via Fashionista]

I can’t afford her garments, but they are lovely to look at. I hope she stays strong and creative <3

Yay, at least her online store is on.

Well, maybe if her brand wasn’t so expensive more people could buy things from there and she could probably afford to keep her stores open. I love buying her jewelry, but I always buy it on sale through other sites because they sell her things for way cheaper than she does.

lol… some of her purses look realllllyy tacky. they have adorable jewelry though.

so does this mean her shoes will be on sale?

@Cho_0705@xanga - hmm … good point. haha

finally…she might have the close out sale of 80%+ off for her items. if there isn’t a big discount, then don’t wonder why more people aren’t buying._.
I’ve seen some similar tacky prom-like dresses at Ross for around $16.99 compared to a few hundred dollars at her store. I can buy a few dozen dresses to fill my closet with that much money. I saw the tackiest dress at ross that looked like something an outlandish designer would design but it wasn’t my size and there was only one in a size 11…whyyyyyy
I should’ve bought it and worn it as a muumuu to look even crazier. I hope the dress is still there when I go back:) do you love it, I love it, I got it at Ross

I don’t believe I’ve ever shopped there before.
