2) This was created using three coats of Mary Jo Matsumoto’s 4FREE Nail Color in Laguna Shimmer. I think this is really meant to be a top coat for a hint of shimmer to another nail color; however, I loved it so much that I decided to make it opaque by using multiple coats to create an icy glitter shade (that is far prettier in person BTW). I did not use a Top Coat for this look. Ring via unknown.
3) This look was created using three coats of Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Fast Dry Nail Color in Sagreena the Teenage Witch, topped with one coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat. Aside from Essie’s Mint Candy Apple (which I don’t consider to be a true green), this was my first encounter with green nail polish (purchased for the name, because I am a huge fan of Sabrina the Teenage Witch), but it has quickly grown to be one of my favorite colors. So, even if you don’t think you will like green polish, I highly recommend giving this color a try. Elephant Ring via Forever 21 – similar style here.

Why do people show off nail polish colors with short nails? Strange.

Oooo, I love that green! I have a new Avon polish called Blue Escape that I’m going to try out soon.

@Kittyluve@xanga - I really think the longer the nail, the tackier it looks with polish. I like mine short enough to function out in the world – If I can’t text, hold a pencil, etc. then they’re too long. While the ones in the picture are just a teensy bit too short for my personal liking, you’ve also got to take into account that people have so many different shapes in their nails. (Like, if you have a round or more square cuticle line, stuff like that. Mine are pretty round but on the thumbs very square. As a result, my thumb nails always look “short.”)
Plus with short nails you can get away with wearing darker colors and not looking witchy or like something from your mom’s heyday.
However, the thing that does bother me about these nail polish posts is the total lack of cleanup – Keep your nails whatever length you like, but why bother posting what polishes you like if it looks like a child did your nails? It’s very easy to dip a small paintbrush in nail polish remover and clean up the edges, slather on some hand lotion or cuticle oil, and then take the picture. Without cleanup it just looks half-assed.
Oh, and I picked up Sinful Colors’ Island Coral this weekend. It’s a lovely color but a little runny and becomes opaque at three coats. I like it a lot – It almost looks neon in the sun and it looks like it’d be flattering on any skin tone. (Plus on my toes it makes me look tan.)

@blackspiders@xanga - I think nail polishes look nice on clean and longer nails. Not super long, but a bit longer than the one in the pictures. These nails look short and stubby, and it’s not just her. I’ve seen other posts with short and stubby nails. I have longer nails than the OP, but I can type and text just fine. I don’t even think extremely long nails are attractive, kinda creepy and gross actually. But really, I don’t care about other people’s nails, except when they’re trying to show off nail polish like this.

@Kittyluve@xanga - maybe because some people like to keep their nails short?

@Kittyluve@xanga -
Are you kidding me? It absolutely blows my mind that you can actually waste your time caring about somebody taking pictures of their fingernails because they’re TOO SHORT?
This can’t even process in my brain how you could even possibly look at a picture and pick that out. They look like fingernails. I can’t believe you can bully someone over something so ridiculous.

@thatkyliegirlx@xanga - Look IRL I could care less about another person’s nails…but if you’re gonna show off some nail polish for everyone to see, then yes I think a person should make a small effort to make it look nice. You know…like modeling for nail polish. I just find it odd. But you’re freaking hilarious. Bullying?? LMFAO. =)

i have those short stubby fingers and honestly after seeing online, in magazines and people around me with short nails doing amazing colors and designs has given me the courage to actually do my own natural short nails with funky stuff..
SO THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO ARENT AFRAID OF SHORT NAILS !!!!!!
