Last year, I noticed that one of the trends I was seeing a lot of was the ‘huge ring’ trend. I am a fan. I bought myself a giant Erin Wasson moonstone ring and it was beautiful. After I wore it for a few days, I found myself thinking “I feel like this looks weird on my hand!” I loved it, but it just looked wrong.
I have very skinny fingers. Freakishly skinny. This ring looked giant on my tiny finger, but also, I looked cluttered. I have quite a few tattoos on my arms and jewelry is usually a no-no. It’s just too much going on. So, I put the ring in a box and gave up jewelry for a while. That is, until I went to Brooklyn that July.
I had become pretty obsessed with the Catbird NYC website. All the jewelry looked so delicate and small, but I couldn’t bring myself to order. So, I made it a point to check the store out in Williamsburg while I was there. I picked up the most amazing first knuckle ring, and my love affair with jewelry started all over again. I just needed to find the right piece.
Since then, I haven’t taken this ring off and I have acquired a few more delicate rings to accompany it. The ‘big ring’ trend isn’t for me, however, I do love it. I wish I could pull it off, but I can’t. I guess I’m just meant for more delicate things… or should I say, more delicate rings.
Here are a few of my picks for a delicate and dainty ring collection.
Do you like your jewelry large and in charge or delicate and dainty?

I prefer delicate jewelry over statement pieces, especially like quality pieces made from precious materials. I prefer to have a few classic styles than a whole drawer full of costume jewelry. I think I am rather plain when it comes to accessorizing.

I have tiny fingers as well. Big rings tend to cover my whole finger and it does kind of look wrong. I do like the 2-or 3-finger ring in the photo. I get the feeling I would try it on and leave it in the store. I have never really thought about trying pretty delicate rings, maybe I should.

Delicate, I’m not a very big person so I feel like its easy to get overwhelmed by large pieces.

I’m a small person and prefer small, delicate rings also. I like the ring with the yellow heart.

Big rings can be too much of a hassle

Aww, I absolutely LOVE the bee ring! The one with the arrow is really cool too, I absolutely love archery. I used to make jewelry when I took a couple college classes on it, but I ended up giving most of my creations away. It would be wonderful to get into it again some day though. I have very small hands and I prefer small delicate rings, but maybe one day I’ll find that “big” ring that looks lovely anyway.

I sort of like both. I like the arrow ring.

that arrow ring is CUTE! love the cat ring but definitely not for the price, I’d rather make my own with a paperclip haha
either way, dainty rings don’t look good on my fingers
I prefer a moderately sized ring? haha yeah, just a normal one

I love big, chunky turquoise or agate rings! The only problem is I have tiny hands. I even downsized my wedding band diamond because the original looked fake and cheesy on my little paw.

I like tiny jewelry pieces. Just a minimal flash of sterling and a small gemstone. I can’t wear large rings, I’m just too clumsy, I guess.

I like both, depending on how I’m feeling.

I wear big rings so much that normal ones look and feel funny to me.

I’ve been wearing large rings for 6 years now, but I’ve decided I like it medium-large, but not tacky and cheap-looking like some Claire’s or Target producrts. Rings are my weakness, but I wear only 1 on each hand at a time and I only silver rings. Wearing multiple per hand is just too cumbersome for me plus my hands swell and shrink with the weather like no other! No gold yet…I’ll save that for when I get married.
