Fashion takes a while to trickle down to us little people sometimes, but I’ve been in love with this VB by Victoria Beckham dress since I saw Katy Perry in it on her SNL promos last December. While the original would set you back over $1000, a brilliant knockoff is available for a fraction of the cost. Take a look.
The knockoff, above, will cost you $163 American, which is still a splurge for a lot of us. But to drop an entire decimal point? It gives new meaning to the word “knock-off”.
A lot of critics are enraged that British celeb Sam Faiers showed up at an event wearing the cheaper dress, but what do we care? I’m pretty shameless about stuff like this, and I say, clothes are just clothes. I don’t need to shell out a grand for the brand. Also, is it bad to say I almost like this one better?
What do you think about high-end knockoffs? Tacky… or awesome?

the cheaper one is cuter anyway

the only reason I see it as a no no is because it’s disrespectful to the designer… It’s not exact but still close enough of a slap in the face.
I mean unless the company who made the cheaper version got permission or bought the pattern it’s kinda bogus.
(I myself wouldn’t spend more then 50 bucks on a dress unless it was a formal event. Or a charity buy, Then I would go up to 400. I’m a pretty broke person. lol)

Aww! I want one!!

Kackie I cant even tell you how happy and disappointed this makes me at the same time.

It’s cute but the cut wouldn’t flatter me. Big boobs and a small waist aren’t things to complain over but sometimes I wish I could pull things like this dress off.

I think the knock-off is way better. Too bad I can’t afford it.
guest
I don’t know why, but the dress reminds me of hospital gowns. I love cats, but I don’t like the dress.

high end knock-offs are awesome because sometimes people like the look – we shouldn’t have to suffer just because we don’t have thousands to drop on a dress.
that being said, I actually don’t like this particular dress haha

The only thing different about that dress is the print and pretty sure it was inspired by some crazy cat lady sweater. I could see if the design was innovative, but it is not. I like the original better. I hate the orange lapel. I would not buy the dress b/c I think it is kind of ugly. I could find a much cheaper way to be ironic.

This is pretty ugly to wear outside. Pajamas would be okay though.

Ew.
Maybe that print in a more flattering cut, but this is not cute.

Wow, this dress is awful.

@MistyEyes22@xanga - You know that everything you wear is a “knock off” in a sense, right? Fashion starts on the runways, and eventually trickles down to the mass market at places like target and kohls. It’s just how things work.

@neversettlefordecent@xanga - I don’t shop at target and kohls for clothes… lol cost too much for me (I’m not cheap, I’m poor.) I shop at Marshals Clearance racks…
I know what you mean though… I was more talking about obvious knock offs like this one as apposed to a similar look.

what is the point of being enraged if someone is just wearing a knockoff dress???? wow and i would rather prefer cats as just being cats, not a pattern on a dress. anyone could make that dress btw
guest
Wow. I wouldn’t even waste $10 on it. Ugly dress.
