Deadline.com said that Sony Pictures is trying to turn the hit ’90s show into a movie. The series ran from 1996 through 2003. The movie might be directed by Mark Waters, who also directed Mean Girls.
There’s a twist though (a really, really weird twist). The movie is supposed to be “edgier” than the series was, and Sabrina’s love interest will be Salem. Yes, Salem the cat! Apparently, he is going to be a handsome prince in the flick. Yeah, I am as confused as you probably are.
But what I want to know is if the fashion will be stuck in the ’90s. Sabrina (played by Melissa Joan Hart) was known for her velour shirts, choker necklaces, butterfly clips, khaki flare pants and turtlenecks galore. And during the show, Sabrina would change outfits so often. I mean, she had magical powers! She constantly tried on different outfits with just a touch of magic.

hmm interesting I used to love this show growing up, Since they are twisting the series around a bit perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad to add more of today into it when it comes to fashion

There was a movie in the 90s, and I think there was something about Salem being a dude in that one too? Or am I remembering totally wrong. No, it was a plot-line in one episode, not the made-for-tv-movie. Either way, I LOVED Sabrina when I was a tween- I will TOTALLY see this movie, and I hope they do all 90s fashion. Wait, who’s playing Sabrina?

I really don’t want them to do this, honestly. I ADORED Sabrina as a child but I think they need to stop making movies out of hit TV shows. 99% of the time, the movie is shit and ruins the series. Leave successful TV shows as successful TV shows and stop trying to make movie franchises out of them -_-

The movie sounds odd, but also that it might not be related to the Sabrina TV show since there was already a movie. It could be looking at the original comic as source material. I know the animated series was completely differently than the TV show. I’ll watch it if it looks good in the trailer, I suppose.

I really doubt they’ll carry on the 90s vibe. And if they’re having Sabrina be in love with Salem they are obviously not doing any sort of continuation of the original show, just taking the idea and morphing it into something that might catch eyes. How lame!
