While I generally try and avoid finding humor in those older and wiser than I, sometimes the elderly are just too adorable not to good-naturedly chuckle at. My grandma will probably never use Facebook in her lifetime, but it seems that others’ have hopped on the bandwagon, and their comments on companies’ pages are incredibly “awww”-inducing. Read some after the cut!
Did Old Country Buffet have a coupon that I missed out on? Seriously, I need to get in on that. [via Buzzfeed]
Do your older family members ever post cute stuff on Facebook? If so, share!

I suppose that might depend on what you call “elderly”.
Is anyone over 35 in that class?
And I know some wild people on FB—including a plus 70 gentleman with AMAZING tats…real art. The Net doesn’t come with age limits, last I checked…

My grandpa is on facebook, but he’s pretty well behaved, haha. These are super cute. They remind me of the video of the old couple who were trying to take a picture on their computer. Pretty much the most adorable thing ever.
@galadrial@xanga - I don’t think anyone was saying the net came with age limits – just that sometimes older people don’t get the “social norms” when it comes to social networking.

I work at a nursing home where everyone is upwards of 80 and 90, and a bunch of them have facebooks and try to add me as a friend. weird.

Social awkwardness isn’t exclusive to old people.

I agree that social awkwardness isn’t exclusive to old people.
My dad (44) joined facebook and didn’t know how to use it. One time I told him I wrote on his wall and he freaked out. He said well then you better go clean it up!!
On the other hand, I work with children (the majority between ages 8 and 15) and a lot of them have facebooks. They try to add me but we’re not allowed at work, however I can add them from the business facebook…. and sometimes I wish I hadn’t added some people and seen what they post.

I don’t have any “elderly” people as my friend on Facebook but my mother-in-law tried to sign up. She was successful in signing up but I was unable to explain to her over the phone on how to add a friend. I kept trying to explain but she wasn’t getting it. So I was laughing, and she kept saying, “Will you stop laughing for a minute so you can explain this to me…” Thankfully I was able to teach her how to browse the Internet and shop online. It was a bit of an ordeal and a lot of patience was needed but it could be done.

Aww, I think it’s kind of cute. Around here it’s not Old Country Buffet, but Country Kitchen where the oldsters hang out. Actually, I think not just elderly people have trouble with technology sometimes. My parents are not yet elderly, but they still don’t really have the nuances of texting and facebooking quite nailed. My mom doesn’t quite have capitalization and punctuation figured out in her texts. I don’t even think my dad knows how to text. He’s pretty good with the Internet, but I doubt there’s any way he’ll ever get a facebook page unless he can get special deals by being “friends” with farm implement and seed companies or organic food stores

My friend’s dad posted on her wall: “Your mom and I wanted to see what facebook was like. -love, Dad.”

My grandpa loves commenting on things and just making no sense. Especially when I get a new piercing or a tattoo. “Is that a fly on your face? Something wrong with the camera?” hahaha. My mom is kinda bad too though, but my friends think its hilarious. My friend was encouraging me to dye my hair blue and my mom commented on the post (this was before Easter) telling him, “No chocolate bunnies for you!!” and it became a really silly joke between all of us.

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - True, but it’s only amusing when it’s kids or elderly. It’s not cute when a 33 year old has no idea what’s going on.

I feel like everything on Tumblr is regurgitated and put here, on Xanga.

These made me laugh, and reminded me of the hours long ordeals of assisting my parents with their computer.
