I can’t help but notice the word “fascinator” popping up everywhere on the Web lately. I always had them tucked away in my brain, filed under “wedding accessories” but it looks like they’re taking a stab at hitting the mainstream. Kate Middleton sure does like them. And their vintage appeal definitely has a place, but could you ever see yourself donning one of these tiny hats?

Because I mean, let’s be honest. That’s what they are. They have frills and details here and there, but they’re really just pretty hat…things. And in the right context, they’re downright adorable. Here are some cute ones and some decidedly out-there ones, just in case you were in the market for a new fascinator.

ASOS Apple Fascinator Hat, $32.23 from Asos

The model’s face seems to say it all in this photo. You’d have to be one mean fashionista to have the confidence to pull this one off.

ASOS Cat Ears Fascinator Hat, $26.86 from Asos

Animal print goes with everything, apparently even some delicately-placed cat ears. Could you rock these?

Featherweight and Fine Headband, $27.99 from ModCloth

It makes sense that ModCloth would have a selection — albeit selling fast — of delicate and tasteful fascinators. They really do complement a vintage ensemble nicely.

‘Foxy’ Fascinator Headband, $58.00 from Nordstrom

I’m sort of oddly obsessed with this eggs-in-a-nest thing happening on this (overpriced) fascinator.

Couture fascinator by Arturo Rios, $198.00 on Etsy

And of course the best place to look for anything vintage-inspired is the wide world of Etsy. Handmade fascinators can set you back a pretty penny, but if it’s a one-of-a-kind accessory you’re looking for, your chances of finding it on Etsy are high.

So did seeing these get your brain-wheels turning on some inspirational ways to wear fascinators? Or are they a passing craze that should be reserved for royals and brides? Would you ever wear a fascinator?
