I’m truly exhausted after a long weekend, and ready to take a glorious nap.
Supposedly naps are good for your productivity… that’s one of those tidbits that I hope is true! Although I’ve never been good at “power naps,” where you nap for just 20 minutes or so. My naps tend to last a few hours… sleeping is one of my superpowers.
Do you take naps? How long is your average nap?

I heard about power nap long time ago. But I seldom take nap except when feeling sick.
guest
I rarely take naps. I only take them when I am sick or exhausted, but I try not to sleep too close to bedtime and not too long otherwise.
guest
I would if I could, but I think my co-workers wouldn’t be too happy if I set up camp and took a nap in the middle of the day. If I need it, I will on the weekends though.
guest
Almost never

On the weekends I do. I can’t during the week because of work. I don’t get home til 7pm sometimes and it would be pointless to take a nap when I get home. I wish I could have nap time at work though.
guest
If I could nap every day I probably would. I’ll generally take a nap at least a few times a week, mostly after I work the early morning shifts though. And I don’t do the whole power nap thing, either. If I’m tired enough my “nap”s have gone into the 4-5 hour range.

I could stand a “nap” right now. I rarely nap if I slept well the night before and am in good health. Napping on the bus happens..frequently. 6am is still too early for me. I do find myself napping more when my boyfriend is home, who is a chronic napper. He’ll lay down near me and then we’re sleeping in comfortable nap land,

Umm, I take a nap every single day. Sometimes I fit two naps in if I woke up early that morning. They usually last 1-2 hours and I squeeze them in between classes haha. I have a really messed up sleep cycle :/

I am the worst napper ever. I always feel worse when I wake up.

Nope, no matter how tired I am, I wait till it’s dark outside lol.
guest
No. I feel like shit if I do.

I love to sleep, but taking naps just makes me feel so groggy afterwards. It really takes me an hour after my nap to feel remotely productive again.
guest
rarely, unless i’m tired to the point where i can’t keep my eyes open. i find that when i take naps, i won’t be able to sleep later on at night.
guest
I take naps right before I work for my evening shift maybe just 30 minutes. An hour if I’m lucky.
guest
YES. yes yes yes. naps.

It’s all over the place, really. I cannot take short, power naps though. I’ll spend the entire time being like “gotta get to sleep wanna nap before i gotta wke up” or just sleep right through when I’m supposed to wake up. So my naps end up being long, usually. I try not to take them because like a lot of people have said, they screw up the rest of my day.
I guess when I was on backshift I sort of took naps? When I was switching over to night shift, the night before I’d sleep from like 10-11 pm until 4 am and then stay up til 8-9am so I could sleep the day and stay up the next night!
Otherwise, unless there’s a situation where I just can’t stay awake or I woke up really early and am staying up late or something. Somestimes I get this weird eye thing and the only way I can get rid of it is if i go to sleep, so I’ve taken a few naps because of that. I tell my boyfriend to pay attention to when I fall asleep then wake me up a little wihle afterwards.

I used to nap everyday but I’m trying to break myself out of the habit of it

I love how, as a kid, I dreaded naps. Now that I’m much MUCH older, it’s all I want… naps…
guest
I nap when I’m feeling particularly stressed.

If I’m tired/sleepy and have time to take a nap without it being too close to what would be considered a bedtime, I’ll nap. I nap even more right before and during the first couple of days of my period. I just can’t fight it on those days, so if I’m not busy I’ll nap whenever I feel like. My naps range from as short as 20 minutes to 2 or 3 hours, just depends how tired I am and how much time I have.

I have this theory that most grown ups love naps so much because we all refused to take them when we were supposed to as children.
Just a thought.
Naps are so wonderful. I can do the 20 minute power nap thing, but sometimes if I go to take a nap after work (6ish) I don’t wake up until the next morning! Wups.
guest
i avoid taking naps now because i’ll end up sleeping for hours haha
guest
I rarely nap. I feel like it wastes my day… probably because my naps tend to last 3-4 hours. Then I wake up at 6 pm and think its 6 am and Im just in a weird daze the rest of the night..

I. LOVE. NAPS. And I take them way too often. I seriously need to work on it. Like, I nap so much that it’s starting to interfere with the shit I actually have to get done in my life, so that’s a problem. Napping is sort of like a drug for me, and I get easily addicted. Because it feels sooooo gooooood to just say fuck everything for an hour or two and fall asleep

I love naps!! I take a nap pretty much every weekend whether I intend to or not, and while they are usually at least an hour I do wake up feeling refreshed and energized and end up able to get all those daunting chores done!

If I am not sick, I don’t ever take naps mostly because it really messes up my sensitive sleep pattern. A 10 or 20 minute nap will keep me up 3 to 5 or more hours past my usual bedtime and make for a rough day the next day.
I used to attend a week-long over night camp in the summer called Camp Okizu from the ages 5 onward. We always had Rest Hour after lunch and we HAD to be on beds and totally quiet for at least 30 minutes and then whispers after that. I hated it almost always, and my best friend and I always got separated because we chatted none stop (we met at camp and are still best friends today 10 years later).
When I became an adult I was a staff at the same camp and rest hour quickly became my favorite part.

What a fitting topic, I actually just woke up from a lovely afternoon nap. I love naps. My nap schedule all depends on whether I am working or not. I just got done with student teaching so no time for napping. I don’t go back to work until next week, so I am happily back to my afternoon naps. I try not to take them everyday, so when I finally get a full-time job, I won’t miss them as much. Time wise usually at least an hour to two…even three on occasions. I try to limit it to one hour if I have the will to stick to my alarm.

I <3 naps! Most days I don’t have the time or opportunity to take one, but when I do and I’m tired, I’ll totally go for it. They usually last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how much time I have and how tired I am.
guest
I love naps! My naps tend to be 3-5 hours though haha. Not quite a “nap”..but I count it as one!
guest
I sure do! It helps a lot especially when I’m doing or in a lot of stress.
