The other day, I was reading InStyle magazine and came across an amazing new use for dry shampoo. I bet you’d never guess it works great on shoes.
Yes, that’s right, shoes!
The magazine said that dry shampoo is great for freshening your shoes. If you’re like me, then your flats stink by the end of the day. Not to mention, they’re drenched in sweat. I know, it’s gross. But some girls just aren’t blessed with beautiful smelling feet. (Too bad I got stinky feet!)
So curiosity got the best of me, and I had to try out this tip. I had two pairs of flats in my closet. So I sprayed both of them with TRESemme’s Fresh Start dry shampoo. While the inside of the shoes turned a bit white (from the spray), they smelled super fresh and clean. And my closet smelled so much better!
I was so happy that I finally found something that works to keep my shoes smelling fresh. And guess what? I wore my flats to an internship interview (in which I was sweating with nervousness), and they stayed dry the whole time. No smell and no dampness. How awesome?!
How do you keep your shoes smelling fresh? Will you try dry shampoo in your shoes?

TRESemme ‘s Fresh Start is the first dry shampoo that I have tried and I hated the scent. I think the smell created such an aversion, that I haven’t tried any other dry shampoos.
Though, it seems like a great idea for shoes. Usual odor eliminating things have a powdery-ness to it.

I recently bought the exact same dry shampoo pictured, thinking it was a waste of money. (It doesn’t do a thing for my greasy hair!) But this sounds awesome. Thanks for the tip.
Wait, I noticed that it gives me some good volume, so I also keep it around for that

I love dry shampoo, I use 4 different ones at the same time to keep up with my moods, heh! (;

I am on my feet for eight hours a day, but oddly enough my shoes never stink, only on a very long day will my feet stink, too.

Talcum powder also stops your shoes smelling, and it’s cheaper!

Oh, cool. I’ll be carrying this everywhere now.

Suave dry shampoo is the best. I’ve tried them all, even the $40 bottles.

if my flats get smelly I use some of that shoe Talcum powder that neutralizes smells…smells like lemons :3

I wear what I call “non-socks” with my flats (and Tom’s)…like little stocking thingies that only cover your heel, the bottom of your foot and your toes. They do wonders for stinky/sweaty feet. I’m sure the shampoo helps too!

@Saridactyl@xanga - I agree! I’ve tried lots of different brands and actually find Suave to work the best and be one of the least offensive smell-wise.
This is such a great post/tip

The Body Shop has a line of peppermint foot stuff. I use the cooling peppermint spray on both my feet and shoes and it keeps things nice!
PS- It also keeps mosquitoes away and if you already have a bite, it reduces the swelling. Odd, huh?
