While all couples want their wedding day to be about them, sometimes “all about us” means “all about us, and some fictional characters.” We’ve seen Twilight-themed engagement photos, and it seems the new trend is Hunger Games weddings! Check out a gallery of one couple’s HG-themed special day after the cut!
You can view more photos from the shoot at the source. Though Katniss would probably never look this fancy, I think that this shoot is wonderful! As a Hunger Games fan, I especially appreciated the shot with the berries.
What do you think of themed weddings? What about this photo shoot? Which shot is your favorite?

I think this couple did a good job incorporating their love of a book series without going overboard and being cheesy with a specific theme. The photos look as though the wedding wasn’t too overpowered by The Hunger Games, and instead look more rustic and outdoorsy instead of “Let’s declare our love for each other AND The Hunger Games by putting a mockingjay and bows and arrows on everything!!!!”

I think this is embarrassing. The worst thing you can do is incorporate a fleeting fad into the most memorable day of your life. They’ll probably regret this when they look back on it.

if it’s a common interest and means a lot to both of them I really don’t see the big deal. Weddings should fir the couple’s personality, and they’re doing what makes them happy. More power to them. It looks cute.

I think it’s cute. I think it’d be better to do just as engagement photos or just for fun but not an actual theme, but these photos turned out beautiful!

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - i’m missing the ironic part. what do you mean?

I think it’s adorable. Also, even if you don’t know The Hunger Games, the photos are still cute (the bow/arrow might be a little confusing, though). If you DO know the series, it’s even more adorable! I admit to feeling a thrill of the fangirl when I realized the wax paper-wrapped things were little bread loaves.

This photoshoot is beautiful

Looks well done. I do wonder if they’ll regret it later on.

I love the Hunger Games, but I’d be too ashamed and humiliated to marry somehow who suggested a wedding about it. And the only thing about HG here is the bow and arrow…

@x0_electric_kiss@xanga - Well, one of the points of the book was that the capitol was sick for watching the Hunger Games and only caring about the superficial parts of it: Katniss’ costumes, her and Peeta’s romance, who’s best looking, etc. And what articles have I been seeing all over the place? How to get Katniss’ braid. Jennifer Lawrence being too fat to play Katniss. Hunger Games inspired recipes. Hunger Games themed wedding.
It’s ironic because we don’t see that we ARE the capitol. Unfortunately, even these wildly popular books (that I liked quite a bit) haven’t opened up a dialogue about the importance of individual rights and freedom. We all go, “Yes, yes, heard it, good thing we aren’t living in that- but did you see her dress?”.

the photos are beautiful but not something i would personally do.
i think i might have to reread hunger games because I didn’t like it the first time i read it

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - amen. although i’m pretty guilty of it myself ha

I’m tired of seeing movie-inspired wedding shoots. Now, had this couple and photographer came up with this way before The Hunger Games became the new fad, I would appreciate it more. Be more original people.

@Rebekka Holman@facebook - I wouldn’t do it that way either, especially since my favorite books are kinda… gritty and almost depressing. Not good wedding fodder.
Though I can’t help but love a good Star Wars themed wedding. A Harry Potter wedding would make me cringe. o_0

Themed wedding are childish to me but hell i would do a lord of the rings one lol

I give them credit for not going about it in a tacky way…..but I think it’s too much when you theme your entire wedding over a book. They’re probably going to regret not making it more about themselves than some fictional series. (I am a HG fan though.)

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - Well, thank God! I was beginning to think no one got the point of the story. lol. This is ridiculous.

to the writer & all the comments,
if you clicked on the website and read the photographers description you’d know it was planned and staged as a photoshoot, it’s not a real wedding!
although, i would adore this as my own wedding hehe
of course it looks tasteful and planned nicely, because this isn’t somebodies real wedding day, just a photoshoot

wearing that dress in the arena would so put her at a disadvantage.

@cheriechanel@xanga - yeah, I looked at the source and it appears this is the photographer’s vision for a wedding between Katniss and Peeta. I knew the two people looked to good and like the characters for this to be a real wedding.

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - I so agree with you! It’s made me think so much about reality tv and consumer culture. It’s really made me aware.

Haha, a themed wedding is one thing I really wanted, but didn’t get.
Oh well. If I could re-do my wedding, I so would. I’ve been SO unhappy with it, thanks to the dreaded wedding coordinator we had. -_-; Nightmare. Didn’t really get to enjoy my wedding day at all.
So, if I could have somehow magically afforded to have done my wedding the way I had’ve wanted, it would have been completely different… And I probably would have looked like an elf. XD hehehe

@ColorMehGreen@xanga - If I could find a non cheesy way to do engagement photos in the theme of Arwen and Aragorn’s love story, I would in a heart beat! haha

@McMarieE - Ha lol hell yeah. It’ seems like everything has been done though.
