I’m approaching this totally cold. That is to say, I haven’t read The Hunger Games and wasn’t planning on seeing the movie. But, um, once I laid eyes on all the stars — sure, Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks are great and all but have you seen the dudes? — I can see why people are lining up outside the theaters. Spoiler alert: The whole cast is hot.
Oh, plot line! That’s the detail I’m forgetting about. Everyone says it’s a really good story. Gotcha. Well, we know Hollywood wouldn’t be able to really sell a young-adult blockbuster without some pretty faces (and bodies to match), so let the games begin! Take a look at these very flattering shots of the stars of the Hunger Games, and if you’re like me, you might actually consider seeing the film [Thanks, Buzzfeed!]
Are you planning on seeing the Hunger Games, or have you already? Did you have any idea these folks were so freakin’ hot?

Not my kind of movie at all. I really don’t like going to see a movie based on the attractiveness of a cast. That’s just… yeah I dunno. I’d rather go see a movie because I’m interested in the story or the people working on it. Which is probably why I rarely go see movies. The only movies I really want to see this year (and having not really wanting to see any movies in theatres probably for the last few years at least) are The Avengers, Cabin In The Woods, and The Hobbit. The first I admit I just want to see because I love Joss Whedon, but that’s a better excuse than eye-candy!
Oh I lied, I also kind of want to see Wrath Of The Titans, because those trailers just look so damn cool. Every time I see it at the gym I get totally immersed in it! Such awesome visfx.

I read the book, and I was upset that some of the characters were so attractive in the movie. The book is about their strength and fighting. It’s not about looks. If anything, Peeta sounded more attractive in the book than on screen. Very confusing to me.

Read the book and liked the movie. I wasn’t bothered by the attractive cast and I think it’s silly to say the movie wasn’t as good because of that. I never even really made the connection aside from the fact Liam Hemsworth is one of the sexiest guys alive.

@KelseyReinhart - Well, I do think that a good chunk of actors are attractive. Seems like most people won’t watch average-looking folk

The cast as a whole is attractive yet in the books they were more ordinary looking. I guess Hollywood was trying to sell on looks which did not hold true to the books. But they were talented though and fun to watch!

@KelseyReinhart – Hollywood almost forbids ugly actors, unless the ugliness somehow makes sense with the characters and is a requirement. If you see European films their actors always look normal. It’s a big reason why I avoid Hollywood 99% of the time. I’m just gonna see this film because I loved the books.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - I agree. A lot of Hollywood movies always use these unnaturally beautiful people. That’s why I get so excited every time I see Maggie Gyllenhaal in something. She’s beautiful but it in a more unconventional, natural, human way. Besides, I can watch Secretary all day

I don’t understand why people are allowing the “attractiveness” of the characters to distract them from the plot of the book and movie. Do the characters need to be fucking ugly for them to be interesting?
It’s a good story, just enjoy it and don’t let eye candy bother you so much, geez.

I had no idea Effie Trinket was Elizabeth Banks until I IMDb’d it after the movie. Great performance / transformation.

Loved the movie. I loved how it stayed true to the book.
It was scary to see Isabelle Fuhrman in it b/c she is so memorable in “The Orphan”.
I absolutely fell in love with Amandla Stenberg. She did an excellent job playing Rue.

The attractiveness of the cast wasn’t a big deal at all. Their acting fit the roles perfectly. Also, it was “the hunger games” not alot of the cast will be recurring in the next movie, if you catch my drift.

I think it’s funny that there’s an article on Lovelyish dedicated to watching a movie for the sole purpose of how attractive the actors are. You know, for a site that constantly promotes individual beauty and says things like, “Don’t abide by Hollywood’s standard of beauty,” you’d expect different content.

I don’t get why everyone always has to be so righteous in their comments. Lovelyish is allowed it post fun articles too. Why does it always have to be about serious issues, and we does everyone take everything written to heart?

You are seriously suggesting that we see a movie based on the attractiveness of it’s actors? How shallow.
Firstly, just because these celebrities fit into society’s standards of what is attractive or beautiful doesn’t make them so.
Secondly, just because someone is good looking doesn’t make them a better actor, a better person, a better anything. You’d sit through an hour long movie just because the actors are perceived as good-looking? Wow!
Can we stop judging people by their looks? More and more I am believing that this website and half of their writers have the personalities of middle-school ‘mean-girls…’ who are obsessed with looks and everything superficial… No, I do not blame you, author. You’re just an embodiment of our current society…

@xTHATnena@xanga -
It has nothing to do with being righteous, and everything to do with thinking for yourself and thinking critically – like every human being in this world should.
Never take anything at face value. It doesn’t mean being a skeptic, and it doesn’t mean being negative (necessarily). We need to look at pop culture and other mediums for what they are – embodiments and representations of culture and society. Therefore, they need to be critiqued. Just because we come online to Lovelyish doesn’t mean we aren’t free-thinking beings, and doesn’t mean we need to be sheep. Like from this article, we can ask ourselves why beauty is so highly regarded in our society. Or we can think of why certain traits have become what are even seen as beauty – we can ask ourselves
what is beauty?
Or, you know, you can just like totally think the actors are totally hot, you know? So awesome, like tots go see the movie, coz they are sooooo pretty!1111111111
Forgive some of us for thinking outside of the box.

To all you guys complaining about the attractiveness of the actors – they’re actors. It’s Hollywood. Generally speaking, their going to be attractive.
Thankfully, in the movie they didn’t play up the attractiveness of the characters unless they were in the Capitol. Glimmer and Gale were absolutely stunning in every single shot, but that is actually true to who they were in the book. Cato on the other hand, had such a scary intense look it was nearly impossible to see him as attractive, and I distinctly remember Marvel looking absurd with his weirdly long neck.

Oh my God Josh Hutcherson has a smokin hot fuckin body. Jesus, what I would do to that man.
