Every single time I paint my nails, they always chip the same day or the day after. I finally found a top coat of nail polish that actually works. Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat works wonders!
The other day, I bought a bottle of Sally Hansen’s Smooth & Perfect Color + Care in the Air color along with the Insta-Dri top coat. I put on three coats of the pale blue nail polish and waited at least 10 minutes between coats for the polish to dry. After the third coat of the polish dried, I applied the insta-dri top coat. Within 30 seconds, it was completely dry. I was so impressed!
I went about my day doing the normal things I do, and the polish did not smudge at all. Finally, a product that does what it says it will do!
Even after a couple days and lots of wear and tear on my nails, they still look like they did immediately after they dried. They’re so shiny and smooth. I will definitely be using Sally Hansen nail polish from now on. Both nail polishes were around $5.00 at Target, and they were definitely worth it!
What are your favorite brands of nail polish?

The Insta-dry line ROCKS hard.
They dry fast, last forever, and seem to make the nails stronger.
One warning—if you are going for reddish shades, they chip more easily—regardless of brand. No idea why—it just IS. I used to use Christian Dior polish too…but at 27 bucks a bottle that got WAY too expensive.

Most of my polishes are China Glaze, OPI or Sally Hansen. I have a few other random buys that I got a whim. Recently I got a top coat by Orly, but I can’t determine if it prevents chips better than other ones I’ve tried but maybe it’s because I am rough on my hands and don’t protect them with gloves when I wash dishes.
@galadrial@xanga - I can see how $27 bottles of nail polish can get expensive! Christian Dior polishes are definitely a splurge. I never realized that red polishes chip more easily…too bad, I love reds and pinks.

I’m not fond of the Instra Dry products. I’m in my 40′s and my nails tend to dry out fast with the quick dry products. It’s a shame. Love the colors.

I love Sally Hansen nail polish, so I’m going to have to try that! I work at an Oakley store where we have to put pairs of sunglasses together for customers and I’ve given up on nail polish because whenever I do it, it chips within a day or so :(

@babybug329@xanga - Those are the nail polish brands I use the most too! Lately, I’ve started buying a lot more Essie though. My Essie ones actually seem chip less. I have the China Glaze Fast Freeze Quick Dry nail polish and it works really well…provided I let my coats dry out a little bit in between. I’m pretty religious about my nail routine (I use a base coat, two coats of color, a top coat, and then my Fast Freeze), so it does take me a good 30-40 minutes to paint my nails. When my Fast Freeze runs out, I’ll definitely give this Sally Hansen stuff a go.

@Ni_Shi_Wo_De@xanga - I haven’t tried Essie yet but it’s on my shopping list
It also takes me a long time to do my nails, I have to make sure it is really dry before I do something else…it’s bound to chip, I know it!

I’m glad I read this because I’m totally going to pick some up. I HATE how quickly my nail polish chips, and once it starts to chip, then I pick at it. Hopefully this will help my artistry last a little longer
And I can handle $5, that’s very reasonable.

I just found this week that Sally Hansen nail polish is best for my nails – sad I have to break up with OPI but the Sally Hansen does not chip on my nails like OPI does.

Best top coat I’ve ever used was Seche Vite
